I did not like the stock extended number plate holder on my bike, looked at the after market tail tidy options.
Again the issue of being tail ended at a stop light came to mind with most of these options (all very nice) offering little visible reflection to car approaching from the rear.
I quite like the stock indicators and decided to retain them, then set about shortening the existing tail, the key was to do it so that even the dealer could not notice any-workmanship issues (myself a bit anal with workmanship, and the lack of pride some people have when throwing spanners)

Thought I would share it with the forum for guys who also want a cheap tidy and very stock looking. Sorry about the BIIIg pics

Nice! Any pics of the progress/details?

the pics show up on the screen when I open the link?

Unless you guys are joking that u cant see its short?

:)sorry I cant post a pic of the OEM as half of mine is in the bin, but compare the tail on mine versus stock

:D They expected the whole tail to be shorter, not just the number plate assembly. :D

Nice job!
But if you want a even smaller one a Have one To sell... The rizoma with the led turn signal and licence Plate.

Please share how you did it.

I held the small number plate where I felt it looked right with respect to the back of the bike and nice and close to the indicators, market a line took off the bracket cut it off with a hacksaw, then made a aluminum plate to join the two.( now with a section removed from the middle)
Now the challenge was to build it up that the lines all followed through, using alluminium plate made the four parts ( the thing splits if u need to replace a indicator build )
After giving it mechanical integrity I used spot putty to hide the joins and rivets, then (now I have the two halves again) matched the satin black paint to the exact colour and sprayed the parts and fitted:)
When I took it to the dealer for its 1000km service, it was said that it must have been factory done, and a big improvement from a plate holder that's sits 40 odd centimeters off the back.
Sounds like a lot of work but it's not too bad
