That sucks. The helmet looked like a really cool piece of kit. Something will come out within the next couple of years that's better. I'm sure.
 
To bad, looked like a great idea but I for one wouldn't be the investor Guinea pig for this...
 
Lots of hype and total lack of business savy

Exactly. The owners treated the company as their own personal bank account. Strippers, Exotic car rentals, cash payments, fake business trips, etc. etc.

this will never happen and if it does, you'll get barely half of what's promised and the other half won't work as advertised.

I'm curious as to why you don't think it's possible? chaseontwowheels Youtube channel actually got a Skully (before they went under) and did a couple of reviews. There's nothing particularly difficult about the technology as none of it is new. The difficult part is fitting it all in a helmet and being able to manufacture and sell them at a reasonable price. No disrespect but, I'm sure 20 years ago someone said the same about sportbike ABS, TC, etc.

seriously tho, it was right around the 1 minute mark that i was laughing so hard i had to restart to video just to re-live the rest of the fantasy. :D

we're not getting this in our lifetimes, yours or mine. :rolleyes:

You still haven't answered the question. Head-up display and rearview cameras have been around for years. What's so astronomical that "we're not getting [it] in our lifetime"?
 
I got burned as an early adopter. Shame as I did get to try one on at their London "Roadshow" and in principle it looked and felt OK though the camera picture was a little crude and disappointing. I had no idea the Weller brothers were frittering away investors (my) money at that time. I think their best bet would have been to approach an established manufacturer such as Shoei or HJC etc and got them to produce a helmet with their electronics package installed under licence, rather than try and re-invent the wheel and make their own (albeit actually a Chinese company knocking them out). BMW have the financial clout to pull this off with their HUD version currently under development and possibly Schuberth too. Sena already produce an ANR helmet and with their electronic know how could also bring something to market, so I don't think it will be long before this is introduced by one of the big players as a mainstream product. Its just a matter of time. Ironically, Skully may well prove to have been the catylyst in all this flurry to be "the first".
 
We put a man on the moon 48 years ago but somehow it takes decades to simplify a camera&HUD design in a helmet? uh what? I'm not inventor and far from a product engineer but if somebody really saw market potential for this we would have seen one years ago. You can buy a high def camera for $70 and a semi decent helmet for $300. Something is fishy when this product mass produced can't make it to market for under $1K. Very interested in seeing this idea come to life one day for the general public.
