Hi fellow racers,

Is there better / stronger clutches than the oem ?

Mine "died" in the last race in the weekend, and I'm now wondering if there is a better option than just a new oem.

Good question! Also I am not so convinced of ducati's way of designing an anti-hopping wet clutch. I checked for EVR and STM, personally I am a big fan of Suter. But because of the costs I didn't go a step further yet.

If you don't mind a psycho grabby clutch that you can't kill, see if Barnett is doing anything for the 1199's

Thanks Lars, next race is first due next year, appriciate the offer ;-).

Barnett seems to be easy available

Only "race" spec one I found is the Ducabike, any one tried this ?

I heard somewhere the 1199 clutch was identical to a GSXR 1k, a rumor that might be worth looking into.

Finally someone is experiencing a slipping clutch like me.....so there are sir flex plates?

@Fireman: any idea regarding model year ?

No idea, just something that floated around when the bike was released. Rumor had it that Ducati bought clutches from the same subcontractor as Suzuki. Been trying to get someone to validate the info, guess it will take an owner with the clutch in his hands to go to a Suzuki dealer and compare.

I just bought a Yoyodyne for my 899 and am currently awaiting delivery... I was going to buy the STM as I understand that it is an improvement, however the cost was $1,050 vs $850 and I was able to get 10% off, so I wound up paying $765 no shipping or tax. I am wondering if anyone has any insight as to how it compares with the stock 1199 slipper and others on the market.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it seemed an appropriate place to ask.

Thanks.

only reason i was scared to switch from oem is because of the electronics....i didnt know if it would effect in a negative way...somebody else might be able to chime in.....but im sure ur the first in the us to switch brands.....even people that have turned their bikes into race bikes haven't touched the clutch

My understanding is that EBC reacts from feedback from the tires and not the clutch, so switching the slipper shouldn't impact any of the electronics.

The 899 does not come stock with a slipper and adding one is a fairly common mod for the track.

oh .......it doesnt come with a slipper....wow....wasnt aware of that....let me know how the clutch does....not a fan of this stock clutch at all

I believe Jarel added the Yoyodyne to his 899 and I know of several folks that have replaced their stock clutch with either that or the STM and it makes a significant difference.

I am also adding the mag case and Ducabike clear cover, so I am looking forward to getting it all installed.

I tried today to get in touch with "Suter", by phone and email. No response yet :(
Not a very good sign, but I keep on trying. The company itself is about 20 miles away from where I live.

I had very good experience with their clutch on my Supermoto, and I know that they made some clutches for the Desmosedici. Maybe they have something for the 1199?

The cool thing with their system is that you can change the slipping force easyly.

Motorapido has it or any corsa dealer in the US can get it
