Whilst I am told it is wrong to do so; starting my bike for the first time in 6 months and letting it warm up.

Too much snow to get out, but I needed to hear the reassuring noise of that engine turning over. No problem with starting, although some smoke and an light oily smell. Nothing that concerned me though bearing in mind how long the bike has been in lock down.

I took the idea of this thread from another forum. If you have something that made you smile on any day and feel like sharing it, post here.

Did you do anything particular to prep the bike? 6 months for winter storage in UK. Is that normal? I bet it felt to good hear the sound of the engine.

I did not have any coffee yet so I'm not smiling.

6 months is most unusual, especially where I live. Unfortunately the roads near me are below field level which slope towards the roads (and my drive!). The rain we have had over the last 12 months year has been Biblical.

The only prep I have done is an Optimate battery tender; the bike is up on stands and I added some fresh fuel a couple of months ago. The garage is also vaguely heated and the bike is wrapped in an external thermal / waterproof cover.

Yup the engine noise did make me smile. :D

Made me smile

I'm going to France on Thursday. Just checked the weather! My mate Tom in Germany who I'm going to see has a 851 like mine! He phoned me today to say he's getting a panigale on Thursday so he can ride with me on Friday through Switzerland and Italy! Staying with my sister in Antibes then on Monday doing the N85 to Grenoble and up to Paris. I'm still running my 1199s in so will take the ride to Germany carefully.
I've been smiling all day!!!!!!

I am smiling now because I took the Ducati out and I'm drinking coffee at the Starbucks!!

Very windy here today but sun is out at least.

I see. Thanks for the info. Looks like I have store my bikes for 6-8 months. Going overseas for work!!

... finishing my self built tire changer. Balancer is next.

Helping a friend start his first racing season at Snetterton. Fecking cold, but a great day.

Having to bump push start my friend on the 848 when his battery died... Was not fun pushing after drinking beer and eating wings.

Lunch with a friend and then we hit the back roads for some hours of riding!

Heading back to MN from ND oilfield knowing that Ducati of Minneapolis is dropping off my new S with Termi slips on Wednesday. Must get fort Ducati-thunder dome he-man woman hater club ready for its arrival. All smiles my friends!

Drinking Large Ice coffee from McCafe. It is so cheap compared to Starbucks. haha.

I think you may be a member on here so thank you for the education in how to ride today somewhere between Benson and the A41.

I may not have been able to keep up, but I have just arrived home with a huge smile on my face after trying to! Thank you. Impressive skills for sure.

120 solo miles with only a fuel stop along some great new roads, not too much traffic.

I decided to switch the throttle back to 195lo. Much smoother but also I had to work harder to get the bike "moving"

Gotta love this bike, a real beast with a smile.
