Just had this installed today, before anyone ask's I went with Penske because in my opinion they are every bit as good as Ohlins and a hell of a lot easier to work on. I wanted to do something that nobody else does for the most part so Penske it was. I live 10 miles from KFG racing and GP suspension so support for it isn't an issue. Besides the shock I have CRG Carbon fiber levers.. I highly recommend, Woodcraft engine cover and the NRC fender eliminator and turn signals, a bit more to go...
I will probably get GP Cartridges for the forks and then some carbon or forged wheels, haven't decided on that one yet. I tend to put a lot of miles on my bikes, street and track so I build them to ride, not generally for the Starbucks's cool factor. This is as of now the first Penske shock made for a 1299, I'm told that there IS a very slight difference from the 1199, took them 3 extra weeks to build it because they had to get exact spec's from somewhere. The difference isn't anything anyone but a suspension nerd would ever notice or know.. something to do with geometry etc etc etc Zzzzzzzz 1199 shock fits and works fine, but apparently the Penske guys don't like to guess.
For those who like and want, I ordered mine through KFG racing in Auburn, Wa... be advised.. Penske sent it with a blue spring.. for whatever reason nobody can fathom but it wasn't a big deal, KFG just pulled the red off the shelf and swapped it out. But if you order one from Penske, be aware LOL
