Hey Guys. Just bought a Sprint filter. I have watched the flying dutchman video on the install but for the life of me cant work out how it is meant to clip in place.

Does anyone have a pic of the filter installed that may help me out?

I understand that the stock cage is not required as the filter clip itself in. I believe the issue I am having is that I can't rotate the filter so that it sits horizontally due to space. Any tips?

For something that is seemingly so simple it has me stumped.

I just put mine in yesterday. You need to remove the shower injectors to install. The process for that is remove the injector wiring plugs (two grey ones, one on top of each injector), then remove the shower assembly (two wire clips, one on rear of vertical and in front of horizontal cylinder? Then disconnect fuel lines (one black connector with a black plug, it releases with a push button). Once the shower injectors are off it wiggles in there. You need to have the sprint filter in the cage. It sits higher then you think to be seated. Once it’s there clip it in.

Do the tabs on the filter face out (forwards) or in? I can get it in but cant for the life of me work out how its gonna clip in there

Orient the cage with the writing on top. I think it is symmetric but wasn’t sure myself. The two wire clips have a shirt and a long arm, the long arm rests against the tabs inside the air box. Look inside and you will see the sealing surface. Put the filter in and push it up towards the top of the frame all the way up so it is seared properly. You will notice the wire clips line up with the tabs, then latch them in place.

The wire mesh side of the mounting frame faces towards the throttle bodies. It’s super dark in my garage right now so I can’t get a picture.

If you are using the p16 filter it looks like the tabs face in. Here are some pics here:

I appreciate the help. I can get it facing in like that, but it doesn't feel like it 'clips' in. I have it angled up and it slides into position, even attempting to use the stock cage to push it in place doesnt work. Man it has me beat! For something so simple it sure is making me scratch my head.

Yeah, I don’t know. With the p16 filter it seems a bit weird. The two tabs would need to grab so the filter stays in place but not so much to make it difficult to remove. Looking at it I’m a bit skeptical now, especially after seeing how much light you can see through the p08!

Ah brother. Well last night I couldnt get it and rather than forcing it let it lay until this morning. I've done my share of forcing bits on cars and bikes in the past and learnt my lesson. Went out there this morning and it clipped into place in literally under 5 seconds. Calmer heads prevailed!

It uses the tabs as clips into the front of the airbox where the stock unit would rest against. There are two small nubs which sit at the top facing rearward so that you can pull the filter out.

I can't believe how much grief that was giving me last night. Well, lesson learnt! I appreciate the assistance if for nothing else being a sounding board.
