Greetings to all,

I have been riding my 01 st4 for 20 years with almost no problems. Last month it was riding fine and I decided to get some gas. Immediately after filling the bike seemed as though it was running on one cylinder or maybe two but with no power. I was able to nurse it home and syphon the gas into a clean bucket. There was nothing wrong with the gas that I could see so I poured it into other vehicles and had no problem with them. The dealer felt that it was a problem with the fuel pump but I am not so sure. The advice was to take the tank off and check the hoses around the pump. As much as this might be good advice I feel there might be a problem with the injectors. The bike has 35,000 miles on it an has been regularly serviced. They said they have never touched the injectors. Does any one have any thoughts?

Correlation does not equal causation. Just because the problem started about the time you put gas in it doesn't mean the gas has anything to do with the problem.

On the newer bikes, the ECU is aware of fuel flow and its a value which can be read by OBD. I don't know if an 01 would. Is there an error or check engine light on?

Fuel pump seems reasonable, but inspecting the hoses to include the breather lines sounds like good basic troubleshooting.
