Has anyone replaced one of these? How do you secure the rod from rotating? Haven't been able to find any tools or instructions

Well yes obviously, but the shaft rotates freely in the damper

Lol ok I see. You mean to hold the rod itself. I have some soft pliers tips that I use to hold such things pretty firmly without damage. There is very little torque on the threads as there is no need, but there will be thread lock compound in there that may need a little heat to help loosen, so you can turn it with the soft pliers. If it’s really tight you can clamp the rod in a vice with aluminum/soft jaws as well.

SKS makes these I'll see if I can dig up the PN# I think they are the same size as the shift rod heim joints or rose joints as they are also known.

Ducati sells the replacement heim, but if there's a nice alternative with a stainless bearing that would be even better.

Racetorx made a titanium heim for the shift linkage but that's out of stock unfortunately

Ok, I replaced my 1199S shift-rod heim joints with SKF Bearings. They look the same size but obviously one will be a L/H thread and the other a R/H thread. The ones I ordered were a nice stainless looking part, not the zinc coated which I have also seen.

The Part Numbers: SAKB 6F and SALKB 6F. The "L" is the left hand

Here is a link: SKF

Thanks for the info.

Racetorx has the M6 titanium heims in stock now, they have a mailing list you can join
