Guys.
Purely aesthetically I was looking at changing out the OEM one and replacing with a CNC one.
I originally thought that it was just a simple unscrew out swap out screw swap in situatin but I'm now thinking that's not the case.
Is it connected to bearings? Do you have to take the load off the front of the bike before you remove and replace?
Is there specific torque settings that apply to the ring nut ?

Thanks in advance

Steering Head Ring Nut - Q&A

You will need to remove the top yoke before you can remove the steering stem nut. Ideally when you unscrew it, you should have the front end on a paddock stand to support the lower yoke and forks. Use a proper tool to remove it and screw the replacement on to the specified torque. This must be done with, as you rightly point out the paddock stand bearing the load. Ie. no axial load on the lower head race bearing. You must ensure you don't over tighten it as you can easily stretch the threads of the soft alloy stem nut and use plenty of grease to ensure you achieve an accurate torque. You can then replace the top yoke and torque up the three bolts. Do not remove the load bearing paddock stand until these are tight and check your steering afterwards for any signs of axial or lateral play and if it feels unduly stiff. You need to back the steering damper right out to be able to check this or better still temporarily remove it. The torque figure you need is 25Nm BTW. Hope this helps.

Kind of pricey aesthetic upgrade if you ask me.

The CNC steering head nut is made to a different size than the OEM nut. So if you dont have the steering head nut tool for a previous bike or your panigale, not only will you have to buy that piece ($14) then you have to buy the CNC steering head nut tool ($70) and then the CNC Steering head nut ($64)

It's very easy to do but I would wait and change the triples out or at least the top triple before I spent the money on the parts to change out one nut. Just my opinion though.

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you for asking this Wolf. I was wondering the same thing as I stare at the CNC Upper Yoke and Nut in black lol. Hmmm. Maybe a dealer job for me.

Yeah me too mate, Group buy !!! Being in Australia everything is so ******** expensive because the dollar is kicking my ass

if you replaced the top yoke and the steering nut you wouldnt need to take off the nose cone to get to it all and do it would you ? I've seen some pics of the changeover with the nosecone off and it seems overkill ?

Wolf I cant see the need to remove it but probably do it just for ease of install lol.

PS Bellisimoto is down for a group buy for us. Working out all the details and stuff then I'll make a thread on it.
