Searched in different forums and found ambiguous information. Even the Ducati workshop manual seems to be not clear how to properly torque the stem nut (the big screw in the middle of the upper front fork yoke).

I just know that the bearings have to be put under tension.
Some say 22Nm, some say 25Nm (+/- 5%), and one guy stated to tighten it by hand and give it another 30 deg by hand.

What do you advise?

Is it really requried to lift up the bike to remove and reinstall the top yoke or is the triple clamp strong enough to hold the forks in an unbent condition?

25 Nm +/- 5%

thank you bwaide. I didn't found this page in my copy of the workshop manual :(

i do not have a crane at home and I wanted to change my top yoke. Can I do this without taking the load off the front fork? It would be great to hear your expierience.

Thanks sutki

I just read your reply after finishing my work.
You're right, it's not required to lift the bike. I took a front and rear stand and secured both wheels together with a belt, but it wouldn't have been necessary.

My goal was to install a new set of Woodcraft clipons. And I failed.
Quality of the pieces is very good, but they are very wide and the 5 deg angle is too much. I couldn't find any position where it would work without making huge holes into the fairing.

Another disapointing thing: Eventhough I replaced all screws with titanium bolts, they where still 60g heavier than the OEM clamps! So I put the OEMs back to the bike and got a set of Woodcraft clipons for nothing
