Hi all!

New to the site and never own or ridden twice before. currently ride zx636r (track only). i've always been fan of Duc since 916 came out. now i'm seriously (90%) getting one but not til i've heard what others owner experiences first hand (1299S)

Cheers!

Agreed!! I've got the 1199 and I'm dying to know if there is any discernable difference on the road, I don't track mine, couldn't afford it if I wrecked it!

So come on guys, first to give us a real world road review gets a gold star

Well my take on my 2014 is........ It's a great start. Lacked a bit midrange and loudness stock. So Phil's exhaust and a TuneBoy map fixed all that. Surging at low rpm also is 80% gone. Installation of strain gauge autoblipping downshifting quickshifter also makes things nicer. I had an issue with tingly hands on longer than 20mi rides. Vibranator bar ends and cruise control cured that lol. Now I love my bike and can't imagine life without her. I commute with her everyday and smile every time I jump on and grab some throttle. 0-awesome in .1 seconds. Get one!!!

What does this mean?

Coming from Japanese bikes, the 1199 is my 2nd Ducati. Owning one is a little different than a Japanese bike but similar if you are familiar with working on your own bikes. Expect OEM and aftermarket parts to be a lot more expensive. Why, I have no idea but it's lame. The 600 mile service is mandatory and range from $250 to $400 depending on dealerships.

I have 13xx miles on my 1199S and so far I've done 2 track days and that's where the bike belongs. On the street it's not so forgiving with the suspension being very stiff (Progressive and Flat) and the lower rpm being very rough. That should should be fixed on the 1299.

The '12's had it's fair share of 1st year production issues (lose nuts, no oil window, drain plug cover, no exhaust insulation etc) and doubt the 1299 shouldn't suffer from any of those.

On the flip side, nothing beats a 600 on the track. I used to have a 05 6RR and that thing was one fun bike to ride.

Wow, I didn't know about all those things that were wrong with the '12's.
Never heard of it before:(
Should I be worried:confused:

Perhaps I should take mine into the dealer to get it all checked out?

You need to sell your Pani A$Ap!! :D

No, those were the issues that I found out from lurking here. The screws that were notorious for coming loose were the steering damper, shift lever, the torx frame bolt and fairing screws.

The 12's didn't have the oil window, why I have no clue and the oil filter cover was a ..... to remove which was updated on the 13's.

Even if you have to travel, get a test ride. Ducati dealers are real good about this. Be prepared to be impressed and pull the wallet out!

I finally pulled the trigger this afternoon. After reading and doing some research (1299 vs M1), I decided to get 1299 S. Did demo ride on a raining day and it was OK, but I can feel the power when I pinned it. I only had it up to 4th gear and ran out off road quick. I did notice the seating isn't the best and very weird, will have to get use to.

Your butt will get used to the seat. I also bought a comfort seat and tried both the racing and comfort.. Hated the comfort and have got used to the race and now like it.

Finally brought her home Friday and put 270mi and counting to 600min mark. The race mode is a beat since I've not gotten use to this kind of mid range and top end rush before :) :)
