I noticed today while doing slow turns at the Rose Bowl that my throttle does not snap back when my bars are fully turned in either direction.

What could be the problem and how do I rectify it?

Its the routing of the throttle cables as they pass thru the front of the frame coming from the bars. Wants to be in a specific spot. Fuss with it a bit and you'll figure it out. May help to rotate the throttle housing a bit on the bars. At 7400 miles the airbox should have never been off.

I will try that. I was gonna take the air box out and check the air filter and plugs anyway. Anything else I should be looking for? Is there a groove the cables should be riding in?

Also, did this bike come with a tool kit because all I got was 1 measly allen key underneath the rear seat. Is that what $20K got you in 2010? Talk about shrinkflation. Sheesh

You got an allen key? Yep that's the only tool mine had too but I also bought mine used. I would leave the airbox on (unless somebody already has pulled it off). You should be able to sort the cables without pulling it. When you pull one of the air runners you have access to the filter (it runs across the box between the runners). Unless you have proof the belts have been changed, change them they be real old. The Ducati ones are really pricey, so look for the Exact Fit brand which are way cheaper and identical. To get to the plugs, 2 screws are at the back edge of the seat. When you pull the seat off you'll see the one bolt that holds the tank. Take the air runners and seat trim off. Take the bolt out and raise the back of the tank (take the vent lines off) and under the back of the tank are two plastic disconnects. You squeeze the ring inwards and they'll release (they're dry breaks). They're old and brittle so go gently (I always have a spare pair on hand). BTW if the Desmo Times guy is still in business he'll have both the belts and disconnects. Now you're to the back plug and you can get the belt covers off if you need to. I think you can get to the front plug between the radiators but since I always change the plugs when doing a valve check I don't remember. 14 tooth front, try to not end up wearing it as a hat. Bad enough with the stock gearing

Apparently the spark plug socket is nice and thin and fits just right so that's what I was hoping to find in the non-existent tool kit. The PO said he changed the belts last year and the filter. Is the belt change complicated and how stringent is the "change every 2 year rule?"

Also are the valves easy to check and adjust? The shop by me charges $1200 for valves so I rather do it myself and not sell an organ every 7500 miles to have 'em done.

I will be putting the 15T sprocket back on. The 14T is lewd and lascivious and the bike will be riding me if I'm not careful with the go fast grip.

These pasta rockets take some getting used to.
