Just a question, what brand/style etc sunglasses do you guys use under your lid?

in the spring, summer and fall i have tinted visors for all of my helmets, but in the winters, i leave for work 6:45 AM and leave to come home at 5:30 PM. both times are dark so i use the clear visor.

I have tried several different types of glasses but havent found a pair I love that is sturdy enough to take all the in and out on the arms of the frames.

any suggestions ?

I wear Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ with the G30 Lens when I am not wearing my tinted visor. I used to wear them with Black Iridium (my normal everyday wear) until one day I forgot to swap the lens after golfing and man it was clear and sharp. It is like seeing the road in High Definition. The G30 lens was designed to read the greens when golfing but I found that It really helps you see the lines and road debris when riding. The arms are very comfortable/flexible/durable and these sun glasses are so light and comfortable you cannot tell that they are on. And another good thing about the G30 lens is that in low light conditions it lightens everything up and during bright condition it doesn't allow that much light in. I don't want to sound like a spokesman for Oakley but I wouldn't trade these for anything.

I have been keeping the clear visor in, and wear Rayban Aviators, dark grren. The only issue, is when riding corners, I get glare of from the sun off and on when it comes in from the side at a certain angle. I am thinking I need a beter contour wrapping around my eyes, maybe like the Oakly above.

Ive had a pair of the plastic arm Oakely's and they felt "bulky" in the helmet, I loved them outside of it.

i agree about the Aviators, i too had issues around the bottom and lower sides when hitting turns and so forth.

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ's here too with the black iridium lens. Just got a pair of customized Oakley Radar's with the Ice iridium lens. Both are comfy under the helmet although I do have a small dome. I only wear a medium to large size helmet.

thanks, I will give those a try, I wear a L helmet too

my wife wears a XS lid, same size as our 10 year old daughter :)

Anytime brutha. It's sort of common knowledge I believe but just in case...
If you go with polarized lenses you get a rainbow effect while the visor is down. It's nothing major but takes a bit to get used to, well for me it did anyhow.

Ive experienced that as well with polarized lenses, it can be a bit disconcerting at first, huh.

thanks !!!

a 7-minute ride home (all residential) means i can flip up the tinted visor if i have to. i like my main helmet and it is painful to switch the visors. for pure night riding (which is rare for me), i switch helmets.

+1

If i dont wear my tinted visor then its Quicksilver Cross wraparounds. Had them a few years now and there very comfortable with good all round vision.

Wiley-X 'Slay' model with matte black frames and neutral gray lenses. They slide easily into my Arai Quantum /f and Corsair V (size L). Frames are a large wrap-around design and effectively 'disappear' inside the helmet - no distraction while riding. Well made product. (I have no interest in the company :))

buy a bell helmet and get the transition shield no need for sunglasses ever. or get a suomy and get the clear iridium shield. no changing needed. cuts sunlight in daytime makes things sharp at night. i never ever carry another shield or glasses with me cause i dont need one with these 2 options and i wont look like a tool with sunglasses behind a clear visor :)
