Credit to VIK for the LED shop link, 50.00USD but worth it.
20 LED's is just a touch too long in my opinion and I took the entire tail apart to do the mod so im certain 20 will be just barely too long for people wanting to do this, the UPSIDE to getting the 20 and it being a little too long is that these LED's are bright as sin, so even though say 4 of the far right or left LED's are hidden it doesnt matter as the flash is so much brighter than most mods like this I have seen. I used a water bottle with 45degree edges and automotive 3m tape with 3m adhesion promotor, it makes a big big difference trust me.

You can also see in the pictures that I used the ASV levers both Shorty Black and although I LOVE ASV's levers I would actually order a shorty brake and a normal Clutch, the pivot point on the ASV shorty is just a touch shorter than stock making it ever slightly harder to pull and the clutch is heavy enough even though its hydraulic to make that a pain in the butt, couple buddies like it fine but I may order a normal clutch lever.

Plate relocate you can do this with or without the passenger pegs I chose without as my wife has said no, and I have a CBR she is fine with being on the back of lol. The idea for me on this bike since light is the name of the game is to do everything as light and functional as possible, removing unnecessary weight where I can.

This is a drill press a bench grinder and one 1/2 inch square flat piece of stock aluminum from home depot, 2 5" pieces hacksaw cut each rounded both ends drilled frame end attached with stock allen heads then scribed across the top of the plate for the bend angle, set in a vice and slowly hammered down with a mini sledge til flat at 45 degrees, sand painted silver ( should have done black ) thats it, removing the tail and using this removed about 3 pounds total including turn signals etc.

Also I did not like the increased riding position over stock of the comfort seat OR the racing seat as they both added several inches height to the overal position, modifying it way too much for me, I am 6'1-6'2 ish and about 235 pounds biggish dude the inches from the seat were very hard on my wrists I knew right away. Here is my suede recover:

Not sure what the rules are on the forums but for 150.00 I can do flat black leather or black suede on anybodys stock seat not wanting the ballsack looking comfort or the gross luigi seat covers, no offense to anyone that likes either, my Pani is going to be another color as soon as the carbon fiber arrives so I was not interested in retaining a red/black red/green/black type seat at all.

This is all I have done so far, Matte Carbon Fiber is coming from Rich @ Austin Racing which is what I am waiting for to re-paint the bike. Anyone has an extra tank let me know. After the repaint I hope to get in on the group buy for the Iconel Austin Exhaust and then thats about it I can't see the bike needing much else really maybe a few other carbon bits, fender, shock cover, rear fender, ram air tubes to match the key guard I got in carbon.....

My name is Chris also and hi :)

Oh I also recovered the stock seat because the plastic on it was slick as all get out, I wracked myself at least 3 times in the first 70 miles on the bike the first day I got it, sliding into the tank. Simple fix.

Where did you get the suede material and does it soak up water when it rains? Did you just staple it on? I'm 6'2" also and was thinking about the race seat mainly for the grip and it lets you ride a little further back (so I read). Does your "new" seat allow you to sit a little further back now? Thanks for sharing.

Also interested in the turn signals; did you connect the new LEDs to the stock harness directly?

80 Views no replies, thanks guys !

Never liked that look with the plate sitting under there like that. I think it looks cheap. But each to his own.

I use the DP tail tidy. Well done though thinking thru your own mods. Great to see people building their own stuff.

Nice write up.

Just three notes. :)

1 - The FE is amazing and dead cheap!!! But be carefull with the possibilitie of the tyre hitting the license plate.

2 - I kind like the rear blinkers, but that would still not be my first option. My first option (but far mor expensive) would be having the whole light assembly working has a blinker.

3 - If you manage to have some red stiching on the seat, you have a serious contender to the DP confort seat! :)

Looking at costs, you have just done the best mods for the money that you have spent. Congrats on the work you have done and thanks for sharing.

IMO, nice job! saved you money and still looks tidy and clean and signals work well. ;)

Love the FE, very nice! What is the link for the blinkers/signals again?

Hey Chris,i"m just about ready to have a go at recovering my seat. Only question is did you glue your suede down first. I"m going to and i"m gonna do what the carbon fibre makers do! I"m gonna put the seat in one of those vacuum bags for storing bedding and clothes etc. I figure that will squash the leather down nice and tight while glue sets overnight. Any tips appreciated as this will be my first ever attempt and need to get it right first time.
