What is a tail bag? My 1299 is my first Ducati so I'm curious

I sure wish a tailbag was available for the 1299; I tried the Givi tanklock tankbag that I use on my Multistrada. yes, it holds everything I need for a day trip and is compact. But it got in the way far too much, to the point where I couldn't move on my bike the way I needed to.
Yes but thats the 1199 the problem is with the 1299.
I bought a small tankbag with SW Motech lockring. But it was useless to my taste for sporty riding in Alpine roads. Too much in the way.

But modding rear seat was a good choice. All the luggage for two weeks in the bag and not preventing doing 300kmh in German autobahn.

The bag is ordinary PVC roll. And the plate is from Ikea 
Took off cover and padding, bolted the plate on and drilled holes around side. Worked like a charm.

Tested more than 20 times dash showing three lines and 3800km high speed touring.
