Surprised he isnt trying to make a quick buck. I actually wondered if I could post up my Tri with full system, make a few grand, and just get in line for a later one. Then I rode it.

It will be at the track with me tomorrow. :D

It's posted for sale on this forum as well in the classifieds section. He just had a knee surgery and can't ride it right now.

Yea, making about a grand on the deal.... that is if he even paid retail. Bet there are some people getting these bikes for less than retail..

somehow.

I'm not surprised.....this happened with the launch of the 1098 also.....not buying the strategy at all....so lame

How is he making a grand on the deal?

It is a 1199S no ABS. $22995 MSRP
The full termi exhaust is $3500 not installed
DP Carbon shock cover $179
DP Carbon rear hugger $299
DP Carbon fender eliminator $329

At MSRP before TTL that is $27,302 and he is asking $26,000.

Where is his profit?

Yea, you are right... I didn't look at the description of what mods he had. That's a fair price.

I think its a good deal. He is losing some money and ebay, paypal fees etc. I would not by a used Ducati personally because I have a fear of Friday bikes that have frustrated their owners to the point of selling. However this guy seem very upfront. It will sell.

I wouldn't personally buy it because it's too close to the price I would pay for one brand new. I'd rather wait awhile and get a 'virgin' one for roughly the same price. I know it only has 400 some odd miles, but that's me. Now, if there was a significant discount (i.e. the original owner takes the depreciation hit, as the original owner should - the price for flip flopping, I paid it on a truck I bought, when I already had a truck, dumb me), I might (theoretically) be interested.

I can assure all you guys that no, I won't be making a profit. Or even close to one; it'll be a loss. I ordered the bike, lusted after the bike, bought the bike, rode the bike, and realized that it's too aggressive of a bend at my knee to ride it very much.

There is nothing at all wrong with it, it's perfect. If it doesn't sell for somewhere near that price I'll keep it, it's no big deal. Mostly it just drives me nuts to be sitting here and I can't ride it properly!

Seriously? $28K is "Fair". Anything less is a steal.

+1. Demand is still exceeding supply. Any dealer selling it at less than MSRP is just taking money off his own table. Even if they had a buyer back out - they could move ANY 1199 within a couple days. So no point even giving a nickel off the MSRP. . .

I bought my Tri below MSRP with no PDI or delivery charges, discounts and free install on accessories.

What you can get these for, as with all things, depends on the market and situation.

And sometimes how bad a beating you get on a trade in. I really don't see much need for a Ducati dealer to give any price brakes when there is a waiting list.

Happiest days (like most toys) are the day you buy it and day you sell it :) 23540 sounds like a great deal for that S!. Care to PM me their contact info :D
