I just bought a panigale today. A 2012 standard still in the crate. The only thing is that i live in washington PA and we've got about 2 and a half months of winter ahead. Should be getting the bike delivered to my house this saturday and ill be staring at it everyday until a decent day comes along to take her out.

I'm 22 and i'm moving up from a ZX6R. I've been riding since i was ten and ridden all sorts of bikes but i've never looked at another bike and wanted to ride it as bad as this panigale. I never test drove one so i'm kinda dying to jump on this bike. i know i wont hate it because im not picky about the things ive read most people complain about this bike, so i just wanna find out how much im going to love it.

So what do you guys think, should i wait until winter is over to take her out or should i put on the warmest gear i have and take on some back roads in below 20 degree weather?

Yes i did. Its about an hour drive from my house and the employees are very nice people. Lee, the man who sold me the bike, told me their ducati technician is amazing so im expecting my bike to be free of any loose parts or other common problems people have experienced. i just cant wait to have her in my garage.

Armando,
I live in MA and wouldn't take my 1199 out on the street because of the salt and sand now on the roads. You also never now what patches of ice could be waiting for you around every corner. Only you know the condition of the roads in PA.

Tough call...sounds a little chilly but I'm not sure I could resist the temptation and would have to go ride no matter how short the ride was. Enjoy!

i feel for you man. im in nyc and its freezing here right now. our roads are crap and salt and sand i couldnt deal with it. my suggestion go online find some parts play around with the bike that way. soon enough you can ride care free.

all that being said ive seen guys around here riding all bundled up i just dont know how i cant even drive with my windows open right now.

I just picked up my 1199 from them as well on the 13th of december. they were great to deal with and have taken care of everything. i have had no issues with loose parts or anything like that and i went over the bike thoroughly. i know i dont plan on taking the bike out until all the crap on the roads washes away but thats just me. im down in morgantown so if you are ever down here riding let me know.

I share your pain. I am in Ontario and I just picked up my Tri on December 21st. Snow, sand, salt and too cold now to ride. Spring is just around the corner.

My bike I down for the winter until April. I wouldn't take it out, you'll have plenty of riding for 9 months in 2013. Like you, I didn't care what it rides like, I was going to like it regardless. :)

It's gonna be hard waiting for the spring. But i like Mark's suggestion and plan on ordering a tail tidy first and then a comfort seat for my girlfriend. I've taught her how to ride my ZX6R and hope that that leads to me never having to install the passenger pegs but we'll just have to wait and see when she's ready to leave the empty parking lot and hit the road.

ill most likely wait until spring but that doesnt mean the bike wont get started up a few times. i wanna hear the bike in person so bad. There were only two panigales at the dealer. One was on a lift getting the fuel injector replaced and the tech had strict orders not to run the bike and the other was mine which was still in the crate. So im praying i get to hear that exhaust note this weekend. I did get to hear a 1098 with termi's and that thing sounded amazing.

I've just completed my first 2500 kms, completing about 1600 kms of amazing roads around some of my closer Australian mountains -Mount Buffalo, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek - over the Christmas break. My bike was ordered in Winter, arrived in time for Summer - which provided sufficient time to customise/order the parts. Every accessory was a 'gift wrapped' present from Santa, and then assembled onto the bike late on Christmas Day.

The bike is brilliant, sounds sensational and is the best looking/ best performing superbike going around.

Patience grasshopper!

Here are some photos to perhaps inspire you...

The only 4 mods left to be completed are;
- CF for the keyguard and Air Ducts. Waiting for Ducati or OPPracing to make them available,
- A new CF FUEL/GAS cap. I have ordered one that looks pretty good and has some CF inlaid into the design.
- Short levers
- New tires - Probably the Dunlop Sportsmart.

You might have noticed on the dash shot that DTC was set at 8! I had trashed the tire and needed to get back to base!

Just an observation but if it isn't broken in yet with only a few miles on it, I would resist the urge to start her up to just let her idle period. Just my 2 cents

Liking the black anodising :)

my bike doesnt know what winter break is. given then cold weather and the bad road conditions, i think you still get a blast out of a slow ride, just make sure you warm up your tires properly.
i cant imagine what it is like to have this bike and not ride it for a month, leave alone the whole winter. salt and sand could always be washed away, extra layer could always be added, even new bikes could be bought in the case of an accident, but time will never turn back, so i never have down time with riding season. also riding in bad conditions teach you a thing or two about throttle control!

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll have to take it for a short run if I wanna hear the exhaust note.

I've never had a brand new bike so any advice really helps. This forum is definitely an amazing resource.

I'm new to this forum just got mine from FBF can't wait to ride in the mean time I'm getting some CF bling done at the dealer.
