The precision of the contact face of the stock bolts is not very good so theoretically, that could be problematic if you cycle these bolts often or out of torque sequence. Seeing how my first bike is a test bed for successes and failures, I have cycled these pinch bolts probably 40 times. I use good hardware, proper assembly lubricants I torque sequence the bolts in an alternating fashion in 5nm increments to spec and I use a Proto digital wrench. The design is not a problem as long as procedures are in place. Dog .... torque wrenches can be out by a bunch. You cascade a bad wrench with improper lubrication and a bad sequence and you can fairly easily exceed the limits in this clamp design.
Both quality bolts & quality torque wrench is definitely worth investing in.I was in the process of upgrading certain bolts on the bike but not the swing arm pinch bolts for what ever reason I guess i didn't really look at it like the way you put it,bottom line thanks for putting that bit of advice up I will be doing that

250 ft lbs, sorry glasses or no glasses, you should really have someone else work on your bike. Not being a wise ass, just for your safety.

Can someone list the correct torque, for brevity sake. I believe it does not take much at all to hold that hub tight. On MV's any extra torque starts to deform the hub bearings towards rapid failure. PS, I choose to go to experts to get this done, won't touch it myself. Even though I have turned many precision screws and bolts in my time, still won't be as good as a seasoned regular mechanic that has good feel and experience to manipulate the tools to get the bolt just right the first time. Don't risk safety and get the swingarm replaced is my advice on this one.

it says 25 Nm not sure what grease b is though . wouldn't mind knowing if anti-seize is ok to use

There is a good book by Carrol Smith. Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners and Plumbing. It covers race and aerospace applications. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in understanding fastener technology and application. Tools and fasteners should be matched. If your spinning a 20 cent grade 5 hex bolt on your garage door, something from ACE or Sears will suffice. When your torquing a close tolerance spline drive Titanium fastener to spec, it's a different story. If your going to build with the "good stuff" give the fastener the respect it deserves and buy some tooling to match. I use some form of Krytox almost exclusively unless the application is very specific. Krytox is retarded expensive but it is the best pressure and high mechanical stress lubricant made.

Replace it. Is that not like a smaller 'horse shoe' type part separate from the rest of the swing arm? It shouldn't be that expensive should it?

Better replace it than a catastrophic failure at speed?

Incidentally, how many people did it take to hold the bike upright while you were standing on the wrench?

Welding this???? WTF, what are you thinking, why not try ductape! Get that part replaced ASAP!!!

I would risk my live with it. Not saying the welding wouldn't work but just thinking logically the risk factor

Replace it. $600 or a structural failure at high speed because the weld gave way and a possible trip to the hospital or worse. You do the maths. It's just not worth the risk on a safety critical part.
