Friend of mine and I will be riding Sat/Sun in N.GA./N.C. on Saturday and Sunday if anyone would like to come along.
Some Parkway and Hwy 28 on Saturday. Spend Sat. night in Robbinsville, NC and then Cherahola Skyway to Tellico, down 68/60 back towards Dahlonega/Atlanta on Sunday.
Weather forecast predicts gorgeous weather (low 50/high 70). If you want to come along, post it here or PM me. I'll be on the Pani and he'll be on his Monster.

i might join saturday with a guy on a streetfighter. 28 sounds good, we'll be coming from either 107 (walhalla) or further up north. all open. parkway is also an option, up 215 for example?

Current plan is I'm meeting Paul in Waynesville @ noon on Sat at some place called "Fat Buddy's Ribs/BBQ" (lunch - address is 193 Waynesville Plaza). Will be going up (from Atl) through Dahlonega/129-Blood Mtn/180/Hiawasee/Hwy64 to Franklin and then Hwy441-74 to Waynesville.
After lunch plan is to go down 276 to 215 then Parkway to Cherokee, cut over to Franklin, then up 28 to 143 to Robbinsville and stay at Two Wheel Inn for the evening.
If you leave that hellhole called South Carolina soon enough, I could meet you in Franklin around 11 on the way up to Waynesville or.......meet us for lunch or....make a suggestion??
Could meet in Clayton and do WarWoman/28 to Highlands/Hwy 64 to 215 and then over the pkwy to 276 to Waynesville. But that's a long way around - would need to meet in Clayton pretty early (around 10?).
I'm open. It's all good riding. :)

Those are all my favorite roads up there, and I haven't been on them in a few years. You guys are killing me. Wish I could be there. Enjoy it for those of us that can't!

pictures will be provided for increased pain and suffering :D

guess what the look on my face was when i moved here. i had no clue of this riding territory. it's one reason why i don't want to leave this place.

My refusal to leave North GA/Atlanta cost me a 1.5 yr of unemployment back during the tech crash in 2000/2001. Had offers but they all involved moving to Texas/Cali/Ariz/etc. but I was just unwilling to leave these roads and mtns.

Jeff, you still coming up in May for the Pani get-together?

I'm am so planning on it!

Damn you! So jealous.

I am in love with the Smoky Mountains. I first learned now to ride up there back in college in 1989. Since then I've been lucky enough to travel just about everywhere and those roads are as fun, if not more so, than anything else I've seen, including the Alps.

That said, Texas hill country, Northern AZ and lots of places in CA are spectacular. When I win the lottery I'm going to get a motor coach with a toy hauler and my new occupation will be to compare all the best riding/driving roads in this awesome country. Gotta have dreams *sigh*

Riding down on the 17th. If anyone still around that weekend and looking for a ride.

Update
Stuck on Hwy 74 about 50 miles from the gap with huge hole in the rear tire. Waiting for a wrecker. Yeah, Pirellis suck. And it's all Phil's fault.
Film at 11.........

Bummer! Sorry Charlie. At least you can go every weekend...

Finally got a wrecker to haul me over to Wheelers and got a new one on. Pulled in there (finally) about 6:15 - 15 mins after official closing time - and they put a new Q3 on. Lucky as I would have been stuck in Robbinsville until monday morning (not good). Cutting it close. Was an expensive Saturday afternoon.
Anyhow, did meet up with Phil for lunch and we rode 215 and the Parkway until Phil noticed I didn't have any air pressure in the rear (It did feel kinda funny running down the Parkway, lol).
Sunday was a better day. A run over the Cherahola to Tellico, then down 68/60 to Suches/Dahlonega GA and back home.

yes, i love left-handers ... but his one has been abused at RRR (right turn track and been flipped - but then i didn't get to finish the day)

Had planned on hitting those mountains today, checked the weather last night and thought 50% chance of rain just to high for me to make that 5 hr drive :-/. Been planning this trip for weeks though, kinda sucks.

Weather so far this "Spring" has been dreadful....

Not near as bad as last year (at least here in southeast) where it seemed to rain *every* weekend and was cold up through the end of May.
Have actually been enjoying this spring for a change.
