I am trying to take the top triple clamp off to install a motoreva accessory mount. I have removed the three clamp bolts, but it will not budge.

Any tips for getting it off without damaging anything?

I have an 1199S - so I am hoping I can lift off the triple clamp and slide it over the wiring for the shocks without having to disconnect the wiring. I just need to move it far enough to get the stem nut out and replace it with the Motoreva unit.

I figured it out - I used a long thin wood off cut to tap it off from below - locking the bars one way, then another. It just took very light taps to get it started on its way off.

Yea man, it's a pain in the arse. I also bought that motoreva accessory part too so I can use the ram mount, works great!!

Did you buy that tool that removes the center steering stem bolt that has 8 holes? That must be removed after you loosen the three allen bolts...
There is a special tool for that...

Oh No - do not remove steering stem bold - that is absolutly not nessary.

Just the 3 8mm bolts :)

My apologies...Yes that is true. Just loosen all three pinch bolts and that top triple clamp should just lift off from its position. Do not remove steering stem bolt in the center....

Off she came. I did then remove the steering but as I was replacing it with the Motoreva accessory mount.

Long thin wood? I get that too when I walk out to the garage and look at my Panigale.

You can also remove the clips from atop each fork that attach to the electronic suspension instead of having the triple flopped over the wires like that-super easy.

I had to do same for mounting mine and it was same pain in .... Had to do it a second time to replace the triple top w the AEM piece too. It was much easier second time around.

Do I need to support the front of the bike if I remove the steering stem nut? Also what is awaiting me upon removing the upper triple and steering stem nut?

Looking for some technical advice

I have just received a Motoreva nut in the post and was going to attack the job.

Could someone offer some advice on removing the triple tree.

Does the bike need to be on a front paddock stand that supports the forks or will a shed stand do.

If you are only removing the top triple clamp then just the rear stand is fine.

Loosen the bolts and just tap gently with some wood under each side gently levering it up evenly. I use some wood and a light rubber mallet. I had to do this a couple of times fitting my Gilles clip ons. Never had a problem. Mark the tubes with black marker so you know where to go back to.

NB the steering stem nut does not need to be removed to remove the top triple clamp.
