I have been trying to find a Titanium rear spring anywhere to replace the steel spring on my rear Ohlins without any success. Can anybody help?

I know someone who has a carbon fibre rear spring on his 1198S. Very very expensive to produce but then he works for Mclaren F1.

I would be in the market for a Carbon Fiber Spring for my Panigale so contact details would be appreciated. :D

Sadly the guy involved had the part made for him especially by the Mclaren F1 R&D department. It is a one off and (as he put it) it is unlikely they will ever make again, as they were doing him a favour in the first place (since he is fairly senior in the company). He sent me a PM with an image of it. I am not at liberty to distribute it without his consent, but if you are genuinely interested I can send him a message and pass your details on to him. Sorry I cannot be of more help to you.

Sorry about the off topic... but Topolino, it's been awile that I didn't see any post from you. :)

Do you still have the 1098s? When are you going to do a new amazing project like you did on the 1098s?

Nice to see you around.

Hi Mig. Funny you should mention the 1098S as it sold last night. I am waiting until April 2014 to pick up the new bike, firstly because I don't ride during the winter months and there is no sense in buying a bike now which I will use for a few weeks, then store until next year, having it depreciate until then. Secondly because the 2014 model is rumoured to feature "Skyhook" suspension as well. Lastly I am using this down time to collect as many parts on my extensive shopping list as possible so as not to delay the next project when the bike arrives. Speaking of projects, yes the next bike is due to undergo some fairly extensive work and modifications. Project 1199SPS.

In an effort to make my life easier and instead of posting up multiple photos and text as the project progresses, I am currently part way through constructing a dedicated website which will launch shortly. On it will be pictures at every stage of the build, parts, videos, a blog, links to manufacturers/suppliers plus some how to's for the less routine tasks.

I will post up a link on this forum to the new website when it launches. I hope to have it up and running in the next couple of weeks. Initially it will contain pictures, links and text to the parts to be fitted as well as other information. As each stage of the project is completed there will be sections detailing the work carried out. It is very much in it's infancy at present but will be added to as time goes by. I will also incorporate an opt-in subscription so anyone can be sent a notification of an update, without having to check on the forum first.

Many of the members on here perhaps remember my threads from the old hangout (Ducati Superbikes) but I will endeavour to cover all bases and place links to the new website on there and other forums as well, which hopefully means I can concentrate on updating the site, instead of multiple threads. For now watch this space!

You have already helped a great deal. I am a fanatic. Please pass my details on. I would be terribly grateful if he could contact me. :p

in engineering there is a saying: "if you know plastics, you take steel" in your case: "if you know CF, you take titanium"

The titanium spring isn't available. Motowheels has a bad habit of posting up parts for sale that they later don't sell, for lack of interest.

I called and spoke with Nick. No ti springs at this time. At least not from them or their suppliers.

I would be concerened with my suspension working correctly rather than having a fancy looking shock .
Steel springs work best

If Carbon Fiber springs work for McLaren I am sure it will work for me too. My bike is a project bike and I mostly concentrate on low weight cutting edge parts.

lol.He had some downforce wings for his bike as well hit him up for some of those. Of course your suspension is the same as a F1 car.
