After being dipped in subfreezing temps for more than a week around here...(12-29 degrees), should I be concerned that I am having trouble getting the Bayliss to kick over in this cold? The Pani and Multi started up after a few cranks.

The 1098 usually has compression balking durning even during warm temps. (doesn't have the start decompression Pani mode).

Garage is not heated

Thoughts?

Not to worry , had the same issue with my high compression/modified 999r, have you tried the lithium iron (shorai) batteries.

My 1098 is much harder/slower to start than my 1199 in cold weather.

Nothing to be concerned. Had the same issue with my 1198 prior to going with a Lithium battery.

I put a space heater in my garage starting last year to keep warm. Makes it nicer to tinker with the bike over winter as well.

Stock battery, but trickle charger was in the green zone. Battery never ran down...just was struggling to move the pistons through that thick, cold oil.
