Fathers day Redding Drag Strip was open so I took my 2012 Base up there and made 4 passes, very hot day 100+ degrees and the track was rubbered in with lots of VHT, first pass was a 10.9 at 131 mph, best pass was a 10.7 at 139 mph. The launch was the problem, wheelie or bog once under way the quick shifter was a blast. It was a fun way to celebrate turning 60, and I still fit into my Bates road race leathers from 1979. I'll be back this thing should go 10.0 even with my 185lbs geared up on it.

Congrats and happy birthday!

Damn, if I could fit into my leathers from 1996 I'd be happy...

Congrats and it's certainly an awesome way to celebrate it... what are these bikes capable of given the optimal conditions? High 9s??

I did a 10.3 @ 143 mph, I think a high 9 is possible with the right launch, did turn off DTC and ran in sport 195 Hi, it made a huge difference to the launch, not so wheelie prone immediately (I did manage to save front tyre wear on every run LOL, as the commentator stated).

I hope I can too celebrate my 60th like this!!!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!

According to Cycle World their pygmy test rider broke into the high 9s with a new S. And I don't think he was worrying about smoking the clutch. My 60 foot is what was killing my time, they were all in the 2.0 2,1 range, pitiful. I just hate slipping the crap out of a wet clutch, I was disappointed that they got away from the dry clutch on the Pani.

Congrats, glad you are having a blast at your age.
Happy to see I'm not the only old .... out there :D

Out standing!!!!!!
Keep it going!!!!

For sure it can get into the 9's. Can you or I get it into the 9's is a different question.

I remember reading an article in Cycle World a few years back that had Rickey Gadson (pro drag racer) taking a bone stock 2006/2007 R6 and running a 9.9 or 9.8 second 1/4 mile.

Pretty cool riding a Pani @ 60 years old :)

2012 Base 1199, Completely stock apart from tuneboy ecu (dyno tune 165rwhp to 171rwhp with tune)

Bike lacks the top end but if you get that launch right and keep the front wheel down should do 9sec. Tip Run in 195Low, all my times are run using the low mode as the throttle is much easier to control and you can keep the front wheel down. (DTC off, keep ABS on 2 for the braking at the end of the track lol)

Looking forward to when the season starts again, in 5months time. Will have the new exhaust and tune and hoping to run constantly in the 9.5s

My friend has run high 9.8sec stock (s model) and now runs 9.4sec with exhaust (Comp Wreck), tune, lowered rear and strap front end

No Straps: (pretty sure i ran quicker than that but can't find the time slip, pretty sure it was high 9.8 without straps)
9.957 @ 145.16mph

Here is my friends time, stock 2012 S (no straps)

With Strap Front End:
