It's not glass.
Majority of the track orgs here in California don't require tape unless the light is on so it doesn't bleed through or actual glass like the mirrors. They changed their rules as well as with mandatory Water Wetter or Engine Ice. The main thing they are heavily enforcing are safety wiring GoPro and any mounted recording device. One fell off and hit the rider behind him, striking his visor breaking his nose and cheekbone.
