Again on the track this week. It was raining in the morning but 18° C and dry in the afternoon. What I've changed for this trackday: DP race windshield (much better at topspeed!), profiled race tyres Supercorsa SC2 (r)/SC1 (f).

Pic made by pixelrace.

And I've flashed the ECU with Tuneboy. Holy ...., the race mode with unrestricted gear one and two is incredible! No more bump in the torque curve with the stock exhaust. I'm not sure if the US-Version of the 1299 is restricted, but the dyno runs I've seen in Swiss and German motorcycle magazines talk about 187- 188 hp at rear wheel for the EU-Version in stock configuration. I'm sure that both - power and torque curve - are much homogenous with the Tuneboy map and deliver higher values even before fine tuning (what will be the next step). Before investing in the undoubtedly valuable Akra I would give the stock configuration with Tuneboy and a finetuning a try. Big advantage for me: I can drive on mostly all tracks near my homeplace with the stock exhaust, even if he produces 108db as stationary sound level value. For aftermarket exhausts the tolerance is zero.

Next week 3 days Ledenon in the south of france. And then I've used my days off :-(.

swapping the exhaust and meticulous fine-tuning of the Tuneboy map completely eliminated any midrange power dip.

@ManofManyGTs

I'm a lightweight, about 76 kg fully equipped with leather suit etc. I've tried dynamic and fixed settings. Dynamic works very well for me. I left the fork on "default", the shock on "softer". A friend of mine with 15 kg more over the frame is on hardest / harder. I was three times on track "Anneau du Rhin (AdR)" in France. Other tracks might require other settings. On the AdR the tire picture looks very well and the grip is fantastic (ok, I'm far away from Valentino :)).

@kismetcapitan

I'm sure swapping the exhaust (and the airfilter) and fine-tuning this configuration would bring even more torque in the midrange and some extra ponies. But it is amazing what you can achieve with the stock configuration and a optimized map (to be honest it's enough for me... for the moment). The difference seems to be smaller between a optimized 1299 in stock configuration and a fully equipped (Akra, Sprint filter) than it was with the 1199. The preconditions are better with the 1299 (my thoughts confirmed by my tuner... ok, perhaps he confirm everything what brings in some cash:)). We will see what I can get out of a stock Pani 1299.

BTW: It is also possible to have a lot of fun with older babies.

Looks really good with the DP screen. Really need one of those myself.

Made my 3 trackdays in Lédenon near Nîmes in the south of France. This track is a real roller coasting! Up, down, a lot of very tight bends, rapid changes of direction. The Pani is absolutely overpowered here but it was nevertheless great fun! Half of the time the front wheel has no ground contact, the home straight climbs up the hill, you're at the rear wheel with a maximum speed of about 225 km/h (if you want or not)... This track is unlike all the others I know. But I liked it and will be back next year! Would be a pleasure with a Moto 3 bike...

Which mirror block off plates are those Rocroc? The bike looks fantastic...thanks for photos!

The mirror block off plates with integrated flash lights are from new rage cycles.

My last track adventure this year: Jerez, 27 to 31 December.
Weather should be fine at 21° Celsius :).

The Pani will be transported by truck. I'll take the airplane.

More will follow. My 1299s has now 9'000 km on the speedo without any issue, 2'500 of them are made on the track.

Slippery after a rainy night.

Temperature is about 12 till 15° in the early morning, 20 till 23° in the afternoon. Asphalt temperature between 12 and 25°. Perfect conditions.

Bike was transported by truck, I took the plane from Switzerland to Malaga and then a rental car, everything for a very reasonable price.

I've used Pirelli Supercorsa SC2 (r)/SC1(f) and the first time Dunlop KR108/106. Happy with both of them.

Än guetä Rutsch und es super 2016!
Why did you choose Tuneboy, as I remember you had RapidBike on your M1200S?

Wünsch ich dir au :).

I was not really happy with the RapidBike module on my Monster. I'm certainly not a professional tuner but flashing ECU since years and have a lot of experience with several products. With RapidBike I've played guinea pig for month. No doubt: It is a very good product for many bikes. For the monster 1200 it was not really ready to use. Most of the customers had the same issue with the CEL flashing at low engine speed. It tooks month after the market launch till Dimsport found a solution and they told me the whole time that there is not really a problem... they were willing to help but not willing to take the module back after six month running not the way it should.

But the main reason is, that I normally don't use piggyback solutions. Tuneboy works very well and with Tom Hauri you have a tuner in Switzerland with high reputation and extensive experience with that module.

Some pics from Jerez, December 2015. Got them only now.

Can't wait for the next trackdays.

Great post and like your philosophy on trying out stock exhaust with tune boy before hitting the Akra

First two trackdays this season. Bought me a new trailer with integrated ramp.

It was 3° Celsius in the morning, tracksurface temperature 6°. I decided to let the Dunlop KR 108 (mixture 4 hard-medium) at the rear and installed a Pirelli SC1 (profiled) as front tire. I was really suprized how good the grip was! With 16° Celsius surface at noon it was no problem to hold the temperature of the tires high enough to launch an attack on my best lap time of 2015 (with success :)).

Awesome shots!

And the bike looks great...so much so I'm sold on buying a DP windscreen, LOL! :D
