I'm pretty good at resale values, but trades are all over the place because motorcycle dealers don't like to tie up too much of their credit limit on used bikes.
2011's were selling as leftovers for $2000 discount. As there is no shortage of bikes, that tells me that nobody is going to want to pay more than about $2000 under what a new leftover was going for. That puts SALE price (not resale) at about $4000 under list, or $20,000 or so for a S w/abs. Now, a dealer will not want to make $2000 or so, but they don't like risk. To me, that puts trade in value of a super clean bike at around $17,000.
Use the same math for other levels. That says a base bike that listed for $17,999 (18,000) is worth. Because the dollars are less to begin with I'd put that at $6000 under list, or $12,000.
BTW, I get that leftover '12's may be gone - or mostly gone. But still, if a new one was being discounted for $2,000 that still says that a used one would have less value, but maybe it splits the difference at $3,000 under list for sell price on a used one - low miles, good condition.
Don't forget, how much profit they are making on whatever you are trading for will effect what they give on a trade.
