I'm surprised no threads on the TT Isle of Man "balls of steel" racing. I wont spoil it but Great racing so far. It's on Velocity channel all week.

recording but i usually don't watch until saturdays/weekends. i'm by no means a veteran but been watching the tt since earlier this past decade, lately it's been hard to find on cable (used to depend on torrents or youtube). nice to see it on velocity.

The electric bikes are amazing.. Wheres the Ducs?? Where all the bicyclists? How Oppressive! hahaha

Thanks for the reminder. I hate how they change the program title so it doesn't record every year. I wish they would just call it "Isle of Man TT" or something instead of always throwing the year on the end. Guess I need a calendar reminder to change it every year. :)

Google Mark Cavendish. Best pro road sprinter on earth, and a native Manxman! :p

Or check out Cal Crutchlow talking about training with him: BBC Sport - Cal Crutchlow: Training with Mark Cavendish is tough but fun

And while you're at it, check out Ben Spies' team, Elbowz Racing at Elbowz Racing

Sorry man, couldn't resist... ;)

And yes, IOM is awesome stuff - love the coverage. Can't imagine doing it, but love to watch.

Finally caught up with all the broadcasts. The best coverage yet this year. Great races, very exciting. And.....

FREEBIRD!

Dont seem to see Ducatis race in Isle of Man...why is this so?

Good question. Ducati doesn't make a current machine that would qualify for supersport since the 848's engine displacement is too large. However, the Pani or 1198/1098 would qualify for either superstock or superbike since the limit is 1200cc for a 2 cylinder unless something has changed. The TT follows the FIM rules and was actually a FIM event until the 70s.

Millsport were all set to run the 1199 last year with Lee Johnston but apparently could never find a good set up for flat out road riding.

Stability is a big thing around there - that and having a Honda :p

I saw an interview with Michael Dunlop on switching to the Pani and this is what he had to say:

"*grumble grumble* bloody *unintelligible* fookin' too hot *unintelligible* smokes up the pits when it starts *guttural grunting* fairings melted and on my fifth dash *unintelligible* leaves bolts all over the road"

Yeah it was Agostini that got the FIM to drop it from the world championship because the teams were forcing the riders to participate even though the track IS the most dangerous in the world.

Just watched a documentary on Joey Dunlop this week. He was a f*cking legend at the TT with 26 wins.

Yea that whole Dunlop family is a legend in Road Racing.

Can't remember who, but one of the top riders (maybe Michael Rutter?) campaigned a 1098R at the TT a few years ago with a big, well-funded effort. Supposedly it was SBK-spec. They didn't do very well, the bike was too stiff and didn't have the top speed of the inline-4's. No one ran the 1098/1198 after that.

Ducati has had a problem with anything outside of sprint races. They wouldn't have won Daytona with the 848 and Jason Disalvo if the bike didn't have an engine-change halfway through the race. Before that a guy named Troy Bayliss came over, having never seen the track, and set pole for the Daytona 200 on a 996R. The bike broke within 20 or so laps of the race. How many Ducati's have you seen competing in FIM Endurance racing?

Booked to go in 2014. Nightmare trying to get ferry booked. Went in 2009 and overtook a police car at 125mph without breaking the law. Love the speed limits around the island but watch out in town. Anyone else going?
