I'm in the market for a fuel management system, but which one should I buy? So, my question is why would I choose one over the other?

For me personally, if I was going down this path, I'd ask myself do I want cruise control and be able to tweak things here n there (tuneboy) or install and forget about it while (rapidbike) constantly adjusts itself and optimizes for current conditions?

The 1199 is not comfortable enough to make good use of cruise control for me. After 2 hours tops, I'm ready to throw the bike down a ditch. Therefore, I'd go with the rapidbike. I have a full termi upmap at the moment and I can't justify spendin that kinda money for either of those 2. Bike runs good enough and far too powerful for my needs. My 1199 is nothing more than a looker. You'll get different opinions since everyone will have a different use for each system.

There's a very in-depth a thread about this. Everything from personal opinions to detailed pros/cons and costing comparisons including against Power Commander...

I'm not saying that to flame or say "every heard of a search button?" (read tons of .... like that in tons of forums)... I'm saying that because it's a great thread.

I'm completely in the dark for Tuneboy and Rapidbike, in terms of ever physically having one, but I have had half a dozen bikes with Power Commanders, etc. From what I personally took away from that thread is that I'd personally buy a Rapidbike setup.

I when with Tuneboy.

Pros:
Curise control
Up/down shifting
3 maps + 3 throttle curves = 9maps
reset service light
Auto tune
Has mobile app

Cons:
Support - unless you have a tuner who really knows TB, you pretty much on your own (have have no local tuner, so yes this has been a an interesting experince)
Out of the box Tunes/trims still need some adjusting.
Auto tune is abit tricky to get setup and running right.

Interesting comparison between the two. I like the idea of cruise control from tuneboy but have not had the chance to use it to know if I would like it or not. For engine tuning seems you need more technical know how to manage tuneboy kit.

I went back/forth for almost a year and chose tune boy. Haven't even opened it yet due to the weather here and time I don't have. Not worried about the tuning part since I've been tuning car computers for 14 years.
In my car experience I just didn't like a piggyback setup that tricks hard settings.

Looks like I'm leaning more towards Tune Boy. So, I have to ask, why is it so difficult to tune with TB? Can I do it my self or do I have to have it dyno tuned?
The fact that Rapid Bike tunes for you is a plus.

RapidBike. All you have to do is look at who is using RapidBike. Moto America racers, Engine builders like EDR Performance making 193hp at the rear wheel. Other tuners making 200hp on 1299s. Myself, Chris and a host of other running RB racing in WERA. And the customer service cannot be denied. Yaman is always there with great customer service.

I thought if you have the cash you can run TB + Rapidbike?
Win win situation with TB cruise, throttle maps + RB auto adaptation.

I guess you could run both but it seems far too complicated to me! If you had Tuneboy I'd spend the money getting a custom tune rather than a Rapidbike unit and treat yourself to a few trackdays with the spare cash!

SingleSided - what kind of riding do you do? There is a lot of information on both options on the forum but generally if it's just track consider Rapidbike for adaptive tuning, for road & day to day stuff Tuneboy has lots of toys to play with (Cruise/launch/QS settings etc).

Doesn't V6 from Tuneboy have a autotune option now same as the Rapidbike? I'm about to pull the trigger on Tuneboy, just wanted to makesure.

Thanks

I'll be looking at one of these tuning systems in the not too distant future. I'm sure they're both very good at what they do but I would lean more toward the Rapid Bike than the Tune Boy. Some people like the TB because it's not a piggy back controller but a reflash of your stock computer. I've been told by Ducati mechanics that adding piggyback controllers is just more to go wrong with the bike than a simple reflash of the stock computer. I would agree with this. However from what I've read trying to communicate with TB is near impossible and they don't have very good customer service and support. It's quite the opposite with RB. Like Ljuice said above, Yaman is always quick to help you out with your RB module. That's important to me. If I need help with something I like to have someone to talk to if I need it.

Tuneboy has (to my knowledge) always had autotune but to run it properly you need to buy/fit wideband sensors. Wayne did post a work around for tuning part of the range with the stock sensors, I've not heard any feedback on this. There are a fair few maps (trim files) out there for different configurations, as always a custom tune is best. I'm not sure how the Rapidbike system manages to tune with the stock sensors, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me can comment.

RapidBike can use the stock 02 sensors. If you decide to used wide band 02 sensors( I have upgrade to these with my new exhaust configuration), that hanbdle that as well.

I'm running Rapidbike Race, rapid bike Quick ....... and the 2 Rapid bike "my tune " wideband o2 sensor modules.... I have always loved RapidBike and especially Yaman's customer service

Thanks. I've just read the thread on Rapidbike in M&T, sounds as if it works out an AFR of 14.7 then corrects the trim to bring it down to 13.2. I think that's the same technique Tuneboy uses but as RB is plug & play it's that much easier.

WRT using Tuneboy and RB together, I remember Wayne saying he disabled the O2 sensors when a trim file had been created (I assume to stop them trying to get back to 14.7). This would stop RB from tuning... however another member posted that by uploading just the .dat file (& not adding a trim file) his 02 sensors remained on and Rapidbike could tune, worth knowing if you plan to run them together.
