Do a lot of filtering, where all the sharp crap seems to amass it seems. My super corsas are getting cut up like I've got the wolverine as a pillion using his claws to brake. The few little cuts in the centre part of the tyre are slightly disconcerting. Is there a tire better suited to road riding in the 1299 dimensions? I loathe to change but its the cold time of year when the super corsa isn't so great.

Metzeler M7RR's about 200 miles in and they are brilliant in all conditions

I use Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas; Same sticky rubber on the shoulders as the sportier versions, but a harder compound in the center. Given that I have commuted to work on my various SportBikes for the last 36 years and tried almost every conceivable option for tyres, I think the PDRC is as good a compromise as I have found...

Great for the weekend blasts in the twisties, yet I can get about 2,500 miles out of them including my commute. My 2c worth.

I'm so glad you posted that 80Shilling. I only ride on the street and was looking at that tire as an alternative for a higher mileage tire. When you get some serious mileage on them you'll have to let me know what you think of them. Thanks

Q3 is the only way to go.

They last a hair longer then the SC's and midline stability is superior to the SC.

They leave nothing on the table to any other tire price wise and performance less the SC which is only a slight hair better.

Well, I put 54,000 miles on them on my BMW S1000RR and 23,000 miles on them on my Triumph Daytona 675. On my S1000RR, I was getting around 3,000 miles out of a rear and about 4,500 out of a front. Since I commute on my bikes every day, I have a really good feel for what a tire is like in all weather conditions ... For a tire that will last a decent amount of time, be far more puncture resistant than an SP, or full-on track tire, it aquits itself incredibly well in the twisties as well.

Worth a try, I would say.

very ironic, I ran Rosso Corsas on my S1000RR as well!

A good Sport Touring tire is perfect for street riding. More grip than anyone will need on the street, great in the wet and will last much longer.

Nobody needs DOT Race tires on the street. They take a long time to heat up, don't handle heat cycles as well and generally suck in the rain. A good ST tire will heat up faster and a hot ST tire will offer more grip than a warm race tire.

I don't know what you have to pay for Conti Tyres. I'm an all-season driver and quite happy with the Sport Attack II when the temperatures drop. Not the best while raining but better than the Supercorsas (which I really like in summer). And no run-in with the Contis. BTW: Some weeks ago Continental presented a successor (CSA III) which will be available in March 16 and should be a lot better in the rain.

If you are mostly riding in a damp English winter (I'm from Lincoln, UK originally), I'd probably slap on a set of Pilot Road 4's.

Good life and very good grip for reasonably fast paced riding wet or dry.

Yep.

Michelin Pilot Roads
Bridgestone BT-023 (or whatever the current version is)

Any of those types of tires are great on the street. Much better than a Hypersport tire IMO.

I'm on my second set of M7RR's. Brilliant tires in both dry and wet conditions. Heat up quickly on the road and have more then enough grip for street riding. Even did one track day in spring without any issues and good grip.

They last a hell of a lot longer then Pirelli OEM Supercorsas. I usually went through a set of Pirelli's within 1'500km street riding. Whereas on the Metzeler's I have put on about 2'000km now of pretty fast riding in Sardegna and the tread is maybe at 50%.

All in all I would never change back to Pirellis for street riding. Might try the new Conti's in spring. Had great fun with the Sport Attack 1 in the past on my Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5.

I'm sticking to the SPs for the road. Got 7000 kms of cruising and 2 trackdays from my first set, ruined my 2nd from one trackday because of a bad setup. They are sensitive to overheating and will fall apart quickly if too hot, but the dry weather grip is just unbeatable even here in Norway.

After riding for 3 hours in todays monsoon in them I will never buy another set of SC's.. I had to ride thru some huge running water spots and standing water and nothing. No TC light, no wiggle nothing.. Flawless.. I may run them at my next track day for one of the days just too see how they do there and look afterwards for comparison to the SC's.. But damn I love these tires..

Metzeler m7 rr on my 1299 2nd set , used them on my 11 as well crackin tyre , cheaper and last longer
