Good afternoon !

quick question. It’s worth and healthy for the v4 to install the t800 to a stock V4?

I did this. At first I really liked it because the engine felt like it came alive. It was awesome. I used it for 6000 miles and during that time rode COTA about 6-8 days. I'm still new to the track (level 2) and I wasn't aware of how much engine braking was happening with the upmap. The slightest movement of the throttle was either go, go, go, or woah, woah, woah. At my experience level, I didn't recognize this, and attributed my performance to my experience level. I thought this was how it should be.

Not knowing this, I left it on, but the MPG greatly suffered. I was getting about 100 miles per tank on daily road riding. Even at the track with other V4 riders, I saw how I was filling the tank more often. Over time it seemed like there was a gradual drop of MPG, and I went back to stock just to see how it would be. My first ride back on the stock map told me instantly that I should have never installed the upmap. Throttle response, up and down, was so much better, and the engine braking felt like it was progressive, not instantly on.

I rode COTA two more days with the stock mapping, and it was so much better. Going in and out of turns was so much smoother for me, and my confidence greatly increased.

At my track level and mainly road riding, the stock map is a LOT better for me. When I told this to my Ducati dealer/coach/friend he made a snarky remark that Ducati has been doing this a long time and knows what they are doing. :)
