Use Diag port for usb charging port?

Looking to use quad lock phone mount but want to charge phone. I’ve seen cables that convert the diagnostic port to SAE to USB. Is that correct? Where is the Diag port on a 1299?
Or open to other suggestions.

Optimate stand alone USB charger has a higher current capacity.

Thanks. I assume just connect to battery terminals. How does it switch off with ignition?

the diagnostic Port doesn't switch off.
the optimate looks smart but how much current does it draw in standby?

from the link....in standby it shuts off when the input is less than 12.4 and back on at 13.3 volts.

Seems a great option. I understand it needs the 80” leads for install flexibility but it’s probably 60” long for my use. Lol. That’s a lot of winding and ziptieing.

Chop it. Solder it and use adhesive shrink wrap.

You can send it to me marked where you want it spliced, I will make it weather proof for you. Quick and easy butt connectors don't last long.
