Guy got a good deal on a '21 base V4 streetfighter as it's not perfect and is asking about converting to full race, though I have no idea if it's the same bike basically as a superbike variety V4.

I'm assuming the triples and up front brackets and such are a bit different - though is it otherwise the same machine frame/swingarm/geometry wise and electronic wise?

Stripped down, if he changed out the triples, bought a race upper fairing bracket would everything else bolt on and be a smooth transition to basically turning it into a regular V4 race bike?

Or maybe something else would need to be changed (thinking radiator brackets and such)?

Don't ask me why; to each his own. Just trying to help someone get to the track and not step on a landmine in the process.

Appreciated.

Jim

Having owned both, and installed full exhaust on both, I’ve had both stripped down. I don’t think the triples are different. You’ll need a front fairing stay and the brackets to mount the fairings. Radiator shroud is different but the radiator and oil cooler should be good.

This, although the top triples are obviously different and so is the swing arm.

One thing is for sure is that there’s more differences between them than first meets the eye but they’re also more alike than not.

It’s also been done by someone on this forum. Check the Streetfighter section.

Top clamp for sure as the Panigale is clip-ons instead of bars. Rearsets are different, but I think the mounting points are the same. The SF ones may interfere with Panigale fairings since they're lower.

I think the fork angle may be different. Check the headstock cups part number. Probably can swap them over.

I’m guessing the steering stem or whatever it’s called is probably taller on the SF too.

Appreciate the feedback guys - looks like this may be more of an undertaking than he'll want to do. Especially if the swingarm is different. I think he'll be comfortable riding it on the street and waiting until something else comes along that can fit the bill. I'll see if I can find that link on the SF section as well.

Again - thanks and have a safe holiday!

I'm not sure that the swingarm is different? Worth checking the part numbers.

I vaguely remember something was different, maybe just a wheelbase, but part numbers can change for a lot of reasons. If they're the same, then the parts are the same. If they're different, the only thing you can assume is that a change was made, not the significance of the change. It could be they just come from a different supplier.

Either way, unless someone is racing, you could convert a SF into a Pani, and have tons of fun with it.

They are different. I tried installing a DP Panigale swingarm cover on my SF and the shape is even a little different, fits alright on the Panigale.

Did it fit? I got a DP carbon cover and the fit was "average" I certainly would call it first class.

It fits in a way that it's the same shape as the swing arm unlike on the SF but I found the accuracy of the fitment and design to be somewhat "average" as well.

I'll take a pic of what I mean in a few minutes.

It's pedantic, but that not a lack of a precision fit, by definition. The part even has a crease line which coincides with the rear fender.

It seems that its designed to be a compromise, that either part can fit without the other.

An ideal solution would be one big continuous piece.

Yes, or a different method of attachment.

Overall it’s not too bad because it’s secure, looks like it fits properly and serves its function.

Alk thats exactly the same fitment issue that I had on the Pani swingarm, I was annoyed as it was DP, pricey and just not up to scratch

If he’s just doing track days the Streetfighter is still a pretty badass track setup, fast as hell, plenty of guys running them at the track

Change the handle bars to clipons and MAYBE change the rear sets and you have pretty close to a Pani…close enough that he’ll turn similar lap times unless he’s a top group rider already
