How much more do you estimate the v4r motor costs? I know titanium con rods are in the thousands of dollars a piece... maybe the crankshaft is titanium too?

Not sure on the price, but you'll need to budget also for ECU, dash and potentially swingarm (R swingarm has a different part no. to the S and base).
Also, the rear cylinder headers exhaust is different, not sure if it makes much difference.

Well the difference in rods alone is $6,800, crank difference is around $600. That’s enough to just buy a wrecked v4r for its engine. Parts of these bikes are so overpriced. 2k for a connecting rod when titanium rods for Yamaha are like 400.
All that and in all likelihood won’t get you around the track faster anyway.

I think the 10rr rods are also 2k each - probably price from Pankl

Yeah and the Yamaha "Titanium" rods aren't Pankl quality i heard. Yes an alloy with titanium but not even close to Pankl stuff. More of a marketing thing
Not buying that. On an R1S you can stick a magnet to the rod. Can’t do it on an R1 rod. Are they the highest quality? Doubtful.

The Yamaha titanium rods require replacement after 2000 race klms and are not much lighter than steel rods. Pankyl are a big step better and you get what you pay for.
