-- looks like i have sprung a mild leak of something, dribbling/weeping down on the left side of the engine - currently it isn't a major leak, just something i noticed while cleaning, but definitely red..... i'm guessing it is anti-freeze, but i have yet to see red anti-freeze......anyone know ?

You can actually see it, but it's a real pain in the ass due to the genius who designed the coolant overflow bottle viewing window. The only way I can make it work is to remove the fairing and lower an LED on a flexible stalk down into the reservoir. Then I turn off all the lights in the garage at night and get down on the floor and move the light around. When I get the right angle I can see the level AND the color (pink). If you just want to verify the color, I'd just stick some tubing down into the reservoir and suck some into the tube. :)

Can you see where the leak is coming from??/how much is leaking??

...no.....really cannot see much.....i was barely able to get a long screwdriver with a paper towel wrapped around it into where the residue was collecting...but i did notice it left a mild trail stain down the round part of the engine (i don't know what sits inside the engine here) thats just about touching the fairing.....so it has been an "active dribble"

My guess would be the thermostat housing or possibly water pump... Time for a visit to the dealer....sorry...

....lol's......."yea right" a visit to the dealer....."now"?.....i don't think so....i think i'll shove in some construction glue (a full tube of PL400, with a caulking gun) before i go to a dealer at this time of year :) -- my dealer is swamped with bikes everywhere...people waiting....true mayhem, on a daily basis - i wait for forecast of first snow storm before they get my bike :)

I know exactly where that leak is coming from. Common.

The leak happens when the bike is completely cold. There is a Custom rubber hose that looks like a funnel and the leak is from the small tip of this hose.

The clip from the factory does not allow for enough compression. This clip should be replaced with a T-BOLT HOSE CLAMP.

Take it to the dealer, they should know all about it.

...excellent information ! :)....but where exactly is this custom rubber hose...?

It's coolant that's leaking. You have a defective "spitter valve" (LMAO) in your thermostat housing, which should absolutely be replaced under warranty. I just got my bike back today after having this work done (11hrs of warranty labor). Not clear if the issue is limited to Pani Rs, but my dealer has had 4-5 Rs and only Rs with this work done. It's not a recall or even a TSB, more of a FYI BOLO email to dealers from Ducati on the issue.

Not sure if your issue is coolant but I just had a pretty significant leak on my bike. The entire exhaust was covered in pink fluid and there was a puddle underneath when I parked. It's at the dealer right now being taken apart. They said I was lucky to make it in. Only 1500 mi on the bike.

Mine was leaking a little bit. I never noticed it, despite having the bodywork off many times, but the dealer informed me that they corrected this under warranty.

Is it just me or does this bike leak more than any other bike in history? I have 3 separate leaks right now and am taking it in tomorrow. One that I knew about before pulling all the fairings (right side vertical cylinder valve cover) and two that I didn't until I took every fairing off (left side engine spilling over the generator cover and forward, possibly coolant, running down the black plastic housing under the lower radiator connection).

Ironic you have that problem too. Mine is leaking a little bit on the vertical cylinder head at those little half moons on the right. Dealer already ordered the part.

AND, at 4400 miles I just finished my first quart of oil refill. Just threw away the empty bottle.

NOLA

I'm just about done with it. This will be the last trip to the dealer before Craigslist.
