What is this cable? (right hand side of fuel tank)

Hi All,

Super new to Ducati and just picked up my bike recently. I was giving it a look over after my ride (because she is beautiful) and I noticed this odd cable dangling? Anyone know what is for? Should I cover it and zip tie it away to save it from the weather?

Its for the heated grips. It is normally tucked under the plastic section which surrounds the key.
