I don't remember this cylinder piece being exposed like this. Is this how it's supposed to be? I don't have another 1199 to compare it to right now.

Looks like axle for the swingarm.

After examining it there's a Hex pattern in the middle and I'm assuming that's how it's tightened. I guess the bolt tightening part of the 7500 service is important after all.

Currently at 7,390 miles.Im right by the dealer so gonna swing by so they can tighten it.

That is DEFINITELY not right. You MUST address this before you next ride the bike. Loosen the pinch bolt and tighten the axle bolt using a long reach Allen bit to 100Nm with a decent torque wrench, then re-tighten the pinch bolt You will need to offset the weight of the rear suspension whilst you do this by supporting the weight of the swing arm. The chances are your pinch bolt worked loose and the axle bolt was not tightened correctly. IIRC there was a recall for this. Either way it's fortunate you spotted this before it got any worse.

Just left it at the dealer so they can handle it.

I have a lot of things hopefully warranty covers too while its there.

-melted lower fairing
-big paint chip on rear vents
-left fork seal , possibly just considered wear item

Glad you are getting it sorted out, as this could have proved a very dangerous failure.

I got replaced the lower fairing with 2014 version which has a window to see the oil level. It's covered under warranty if your warranty is still valid.

pivot bolt

This happened to me on my 2013 1199. I was on my way to Monterrey, CA from Portland, OR for the MotoGP race. I called the dealer to get the torque spec and bought the tools while on the road to tighten the bolt. Would not chance riding it while backing out. I also took photos and showed them to the mechanics in the Ducati tent on Ducati Island. On my second Panigale now and haven't had any other issues but I check both sides on every ride now.
