Jack Miller raced at the final round of the ASBK championship on a CAT sponsored V4R today at "The Bend" in SA...

Which, because of his MotoGP contract means it has to run std electronics while the ASBK guys mostly run Magnetti Marelli, so Jacks bike was mostly stock...

The guy is a dead set legend, but i'm hoping someone knows what the rotors are on his bike?

Cheers!

TK Rotors. I’ve had them for years. Excellent. These are the same rotors on Jacks bike without the carbon covers. Those are not carbon carries, just covers. The base rotors are about the same price at T Drives. The carbon carrier is way overpriced for what it is.

That’s crazy - $800 per rotor for a carbon cover?

I remember you mentioning them before. How do they compare to t-drives - different feel, coefficient of friction, durability, etc…?

Was the race broadcast anywhere?

LOL you’re asking the wrong person my friend, I needed some rotors and I thought they were interesting. From a rider feedback perspective at my skill level, they could be made out of wood and I probably wouldn’t know the difference.

I had the T drives as well. The only rotors I didn’t like were the Braketech Iron. Their design wears the buttons out quickly and I had an un flat disc right out of the box. Their CMCs on the other hand are Alien tech and the best rotors I have ever used.

How do the CMC compare to sicoms?

The Sicom ships with its own pad which uses a bedding in process to transfer pad material to the rotor. Legit or not, I don’t know but they don’t offer the pad for the SBK calipers. The CMC I just use the Z04 pad, which I get a steel rotor feel out of with extremely low mass.

Put about 6k miles on the rotors with the Z04s last year. Zero disc wear and the pads look good. There is a guy on the ZX10 board with 10years of track days on a set with very minimal wear. Pretty phenomenal product. Bummer they don’t exist any longer. Steven has the Sicom with the MS calipers which uses the same pad as the stock calipers and he likes them. I have a Sicom rear.

SBU ran the Sicom with the SBK Calipers and an SBS pad I believe. I don’t think it messed up the rotors but I don’t think the combination worked very well. They were on the bike for a very short period of time and never seen again. I originally ran the CMC with the recommended Ferodo pad. Garbage. The Brembo Z04 SBK pads are 130 ea so 500 and change but you know that.

I knew someone here would know.... LOL

I'm assuming they are fully floating?

I use Braketech Axis Iron on another bike and find them to be brilliant, no issues with the buttons at all, the only issue is the GunKote comes away around the buttons to the iron does get rusty there, but that's purely cosmetic, braking performance is awesome with SBS pads....

Would love to know @Bruce Wayne's thoughts on the degree that Miller's bike has been prepped. Doesn't look too far from stock. More super stock than super bike level.

Also, it's a shame that other GP riders don't dip their toes into their national series. Goes to show the kind of guy Miller is. Loves racing.

His bike only arrived about 3 weeks ago and was put together by his motocross mechanic who also put shrotters bike together as well, they did a great job getting it ready in a very short time electronics were standard compared to magneti marelli on the other Ducati's suspension was the proper Ohlins but he definitely would have been held back by the STD electronics and no testing. The guy is an absolute legend and a great ambassador for our sport

I don't know the guy, or his mates who run "Thriller Motorsports" but you're spot on, a great ambassador for motorcycle racing but also for aussies in general, easily likeable and enthusiastic. Add to that his bike was virtually stock and he's racing some seriously fast guys on well sorted machinery, his was brand new, prepped in what? 3 weeks! and no shakedown except for up and down the road LOL
It will be interesting to see what he does next year, he said on the telecast he needs to get his contract re written so he's allowed to ride cause he just loves it so much, no KTM super bike on offer, I wonder what he will be allowed to ride......

Threadjack: Same bike.
Anyone know where a man can get tank grip like this? This definitely is not the Stompgrip Panigale cut pattern. This is way bigger. Stompgrip has "universal" rectangles but they seem pretty small as well.
