I am debating what to do in the spring. I have 2 ideas and I was looking for some input. Things to consider. I will only have one car so it will be a daily driver. I also live in New England so I will be driving in the snow.

Option 1 order a 2013 M5 for Euro delivery in the spring drive it year round.

Option 2 Order a 2013 550 M-Sport Xdrive and a 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale S. The 550 will be great for New England and bike will be the go fast toy. Not that the 550 is slow by any means. But the bike will sit in the garage all winter and not be used.

This is a Panigale forum... we are hardly likely to choose option 1 .. are we???

i live in the city, with a 20 miles commute per day

this is my option:

sell the car
buy a track/road bicycle as a daily commute on dry day
buy a cross bicyle as a daily commute on wet/snow day (yes snow)
buy the Panigale and enjoy what people is missing in their life :D
have the remaining money from your option 1 or 2 (my guess is north of 60 grand) on private limo service

Cons:
tell me about this, as i cant think of any

Pros:
having a bad ... motorcycle
your metabolism and endurance is off the roof
rock hard abs, monster lower body with low fat% (when was the last time you see a fat professional cyclist?)
once you are used to riding a road bike, your core is so strong that when you jump on the panigale, the ride feels as flush as a Caddy, and you chuckle when others complain about their backache after a 300 miles ride - FACT
fall asleep, or make out with your date while stuck in traffic in the limo XD

I'd go with Option 2, but I don't even have a car so I'm not a great judge.

Considering the audience, I think option 2 will garner the most votes.

I ran the same question in a M5, and a 550 forum. Figured I needed the opinion of a Ducati forum. THe M5 forum was all for the M5, the 550 forum was split 50/50 and its primarily Ducati here lol

Haha...what a surprise the respective forums would be biased! Here's the good news, you're in a win win situation. Either option you choose will put a smile on your face. Good luck with your decision.

i had a M5, hated it, it was fast as snot but got worse gas mileage than my 1969 Z28.

I would vote Audi R8 and of course PANIGALE !

oh and move out here to Southern California where you can drive/ride both all year

just my opinion

i was in a similar position a few years back when conditions were right for me and i chose the car/bike. today some 6 years later, i still think i made the right decision. and after getting my second bike a few months ago (1199S), my lexus is not really all that and these bikes are way better and much more fun to own. all winter while driving my car, i look forward to breaking out the bike out in the summer as a daily driver for weeks at a time. go with option 2.

and i think i might agree with the previous poster, my next auto in the coming years might be a nice audi....that is, depending on the number of factors. i concur with the euro pickup method. :)

Yea, I know... Real first world problems...

I would say it's probably just as bad as the Old England...but then again, i am Scottish!!!

Personally no BMW for me. I'd be looking for a different AWD vehicle and of course the 1199 Tri for spring and summer.
Born and raised in New England too.

I did live in New England and I would choose option 3, leave, head west, buy the M5 and the 1199 and ride year round. When your ... needs a brake from the heat drive the M. :)

Driving here its too easy to get speeding fines in a car (forward facing mobile speed cameras) and I almost never drive outside city limit. I have Harley Fatboy for relaxed or city riding days and the Panigale for ripping about the open road. Sold my Audi TT and instead bought an A1 5 door, and my wife a Q5, which means that deal has lots of upside :)

my 2 cents

Go with the 535 xdrive m sport. The 535 and 550 are so close in performance that your spending 12k more on the 550 for .1 in a zero to sixty time. the m for your only car is too much car. I had a m3 convertible and just downgraded if you want to say that to a 335is. as a daily drive the 335is is a better car hands down and its just as fast and you can always tweak the turbos and get it faster then the M. I also get 400 miles per tank instead of 300. The tires on the M go very quickly and are 450 per tire. IMO your wasting your money on the 550 so your decision should be 535 m sport xdrive or m5. The m5 may be the best sedan out there at any price but believe me you won't use 50% of what it offers. Get the 535 x drive m sport get the 1199s and keep the change.
hope this helped

We have a Panamera twin turbo and a C4S for the snow. Otherwise, bikes only!! Also, a 3/4 ton Suburban for that really nasty snow

As far as your new England choices, snow dictates X-drive..M5 useless in that sense.

So, that means get the Pani and the Multi and the x-drive!!
