What's the best way to tighten this piece?

I noticed tonight that my right hand side plastic trim beneath the seat and petrol tank was loose - see arrowed item on pic.

Having taken the seat off it looks like my only access to whatever retains this piece is to also take the petrol tank off.
Before I go ahead, is there any easy option that I am missing?
If the tank has to come off are there any hints or tips to make it as simple as possible?
It is under warranty but unless its a huge job to get to it I can't see the point in carting it all the way down to MCC just for the sake of an hours spannering myself.

Don't be intimidated by the tank removal--Ducati made it a breeze.
1) Remove the seat
2) Remove the bolts underneath the seat holding the tank on
3) Remove the front plastic shroud at the top of the tank by the ignition and the two bolts that attach the hinge to the tank
4) pick the tank up a little, reach in on the right side of the bike to disconnect the quick release coupler to disconnect fuel line
5) Remove tank.

Viola. I haven't done it in a while, so it's possible I missed a step, but it literally takes just a few minutes to remove. Replace in reverse order and snap the coupler back together (make sure it SNAPS to ensure the line seals properly).

The only other thing to watch out for: Double check to make sure that when you reconnect the supply you haven't accidentally pushed the airbox seal out of position.

Remove seat and tank as detailed by AntiHero. Don't forget the two hoses at the RH front of the tank.

Download the parts manual for your model from the Ducati website and refer to Drawing 27 - Rear Frame Comp. The cover's held on by push on clips.

I'm sure the dealer would be more than happy to fix it for you...all part of the service!

Thanks for the advice Guys - tank removal seems to be a doddle.
I'll take a look at the parts manual once i've downloaded it as if it looks like the push on clips and/or the trim would need replacing then the guys at MCC can handle it under warranty.

Loose bits or not;)

I'd rather be on the side of the road putting the bits back on my DUCATI, than seen riding a BMW:)
