special tools, sequence, pitfalls?....you know; the usual stuff.
also dirty but a little cleaner: with a 6mm clear pneumatic hose and an old plastic bottle instead of the rag. keep the rag in hand anyway.
That's what I do. I drilled two holes in the lid on an empty Gatorade bottle so I can keep both ends of the hose in the bottle when not using it (prevents dripping). Then, to bleed, just pull one end out, attach to nipple and do as instructed above.
You carry these with you???
No, sorry, I bleed before I go out. If I had to bleed on the roadside I'd have to do the paper towel/rag method.
Yeah...the method I posted is my on the road "dirty method"
Roger. I haven't had to do that one yet, but I did get real close one time and opted to just cut my ride a bit short and head home. Now I basically do it every time I ride it if I am going more than an hour.
Annoying isn't it???
Yeah, kinda. I tried zipties/tying the clutch lever to the bar overnight and that sorta worked, but not as well as a quick bleed. I end up doing the front brakes more often than I'd like too, but what are you going to do? It's either this or upgrade to an S1KRR.
...Cable clutches are the way to go....
...Cable clutches are the way to go....
They have their own set of problems too!
Cable breaking
Always adjusting them
Too tight - leads to worn clutches and other bad stuff
Too loose -won't engage
At least the hydraulic clutch is consistent if you can keep the air out
1 1/2 years only bled mine 3 times.
thanks for the info. (i heard there are two spots to bleed in the clutch system?)
