whats the quick and dirty method of clutch bleeding?

11mm wrench...cloth and 5 seconds....

Pump the lever a few times..then pull it in..open the bleed nipple with cloth very near it... wait for air then very shortly followed by fluid...done... I do this on every ride over maybe 2/300 miles...

also dirty but a little cleaner: with a 6mm clear pneumatic hose and an old plastic bottle instead of the rag. keep the rag in hand anyway.

That's what I do. I drilled two holes in the lid on an empty Gatorade bottle so I can keep both ends of the hose in the bottle when not using it (prevents dripping). Then, to bleed, just pull one end out, attach to nipple and do as instructed above.

Steve - welcome to the Panigale! As STW I have to do this about the same intervals as him......you will get very proficient at this the more/harder you ride. :)

You carry these with you???

No, sorry, I bleed before I go out. If I had to bleed on the roadside I'd have to do the paper towel/rag method.

Yeah...the method I posted is my on the road "dirty method" ;)

Roger. I haven't had to do that one yet, but I did get real close one time and opted to just cut my ride a bit short and head home. Now I basically do it every time I ride it if I am going more than an hour.

Annoying isn't it???:(

Yeah, kinda. I tried zipties/tying the clutch lever to the bar overnight and that sorta worked, but not as well as a quick bleed. I end up doing the front brakes more often than I'd like too, but what are you going to do? It's either this or upgrade to an S1KRR. :)

...Cable clutches are the way to go....;)

They have their own set of problems too!
Cable breaking
Always adjusting them
Too tight - leads to worn clutches and other bad stuff
Too loose -won't engage

At least the hydraulic clutch is consistent if you can keep the air out
1 1/2 years only bled mine 3 times.

My Ducatis have been the only bikes I have owned with hydraulic clutches....and the only bikes I have had clutch related issues...

thanks for the info. (i heard there are two spots to bleed in the clutch system?)

Yes...Master and slave.... Due to its location (highest point) I think most/all bleed at the master??? Flushing would be done at the slave...Thats how I would do it anyway...

Got a similar setup but only had to do it once now in 6000 kilometres, not every ride. Perhaps something else is wrong.

At someones suggestion on here I polished the inside of the cylinder but have not had time for a ride since. It looked pretty smooth to me though anyway. If I have problems again i may put an aftermarket one on.

14000ks since the cnc slave and have not bleed the system once. Why bleed it when you don't have too"¦"¦...
