So I lost my other key. great. Bought a new transponder key from Omaha (thanks Jarel), got it a few days ago and hit up all the local big name big money locksmiths and they can cut everything- lexus, jag, mercedes, ferrari, etc keys, but not this damn ducati internal "laser" cut key. WTF?

Everywhere said the internal width between teeth is so small their machine guides are too wide to cut this key. Does anyone know first hand of a locksmith that can actually cut this key in the NY/NJ/DE/MD/PA region? As it is they want $30+ for a cut but it is what it is. Dealership has been all but useful in this matter as well.

are you saying the ducati dealership can't do it , or get you to a place to have it cut? if so that is embarrassing

Sadly, thats what I'm saying. I'm quite baffled. I feel like lost keys occur more often than they appear to. I guess people never replace their lost keys...

Biggest locksmith in new jersey couldnt cut this key. I was recomended to try an Audi dealer and see if I have luck. Hopefully their machine has a small enough guide to travel this key. Fingers crossed!

Yep even car dealerships don’t have these machines, they order keys from corporate. Awesome. Can’t get a key for this ....... bike. What a joke

We have a locksmith in the strip mall next to our shop that can cut these keys, so I'd say check around a little more and you'll find one. Ask if they can cut the narrow European internal-cut keys.

Thats been the problem, Ive got loads of guys who can cut laser-cuts but nobody can cut narrow Panigale keys. Dealership I spoke with was 110% USELESS. I'm embarrassed for them. I'm considering seeing if a locksmith far away will accept me overnighting them to them and overnighting them back.

i have the same problem but my ducati dealer recommend a place for me but they are busy all the time and i can never get in touch with them.

Have you tried a Porsche dealers' Service department?

I went to a Porsche/Audi/VW Service department yesterday and was told they now exclusively order keys from corporate. No cutting is done in house any longer (at least in this area). Total BS

i just got my key done today. its from a lock smith that my local ducati dealer recommended.

Out of curiosity, a have a couple of sets of keys (Panigale included) that came with a small metal tag. If the number on the tag was provided to the dealer, could the keys be ordered from Ducati precut?

The process if you are in the Manhattan area is to go to the Ducati dealer at 155 6th Avenue to purchase a blank key key and get it programmed, then have it cut at Greenwich Locksmiths www.greenwichlocksmiths.com a few blocks away at 56 7th Avenue South. It usually only takes a few minutes. This Ducati dealer is a great friend of ours and we have been cutting their keys for years with no complaints, they will recommend us if you ask. Even bought a Monster 620 from them a few years back!
