Which clutch cover?

I'm undecided between the two, the carbon fibre cover, or the beefier billet aluminium cover.
My bike has already a few carbon bits in its stock form and I would therefore rather tend towards the carbon clutch cover. However, if the carbon one is only a decorative piece and offers no protection whatsoever, then I guess I'm better off with the aluminium cover.
What are your thoughts?

here are 2 photos of each cover:

can't find a photo with the billet aluminum cover installed, but this is the part :

I think based off the carbon fiber your bike already has your better off going that direction..... If your bike goes down, I doubt the other option will do any justice enough to say hey.... At least my clutch cover is saved.... So it's best to complete the carbon fiber design.... I too am looking at clutch covers but going more to the invisible side with the clear covers

Billet for my money. The Carbon might look good but, not as tough as the billet. Option 3 is just go with a different cover . Woodcraft for protection or Ducabike for pretty.

It depends whether you want it for bling or protection of your engine.

If it's about protection: the racer gurus here tell you what kind of plastic cover you shall put on your bike.

If it's about bling, I would keep the CF cover and place some tiny Rizoma protectors over it. Did this on my SL before I replaced the whole clutch. I re-anodized the protectors from black to grey.

(don't need them anymore, PM if your interested)

Another approach I did is using the Cnc Racing protector on the Tricolore.

My man Gecko rolling with the identical clutch covers I had on my Tri since the first week of ownership brother!

To the OP- JBS. Ever thought of going with what was named (Actually in my very presence, by our Mod Phil) While we were all sitting around the shop of Bellissimoto! Its called the "Oil-Quarium" my friend! :D
(Video at bottom. I pasted in here but it cut the whole post in half)

BellissiMoto - Ducabike Clutches

Anything you need or want from them is gained with a Forum Membership Discount so don't forget to mention that- or even better that Gunny Fitz sent you personally!

***And some pics of my own clutch cover setup- like Gecko's. ;)

The t-rex sliders might not be for everybody, but they certainly offer all the protection I need, and they also fit over the "oil-quarium" for the best of both worlds for me.

Sent from under the bonnet of some rich guys Porsche

Thank you guys for all your helpful contributions.

I have decided to go with the DP billet aluminium cover, mainly for 2 reasons :

1. (Main reason) I have already paid for a clutch cover at my local dealership and have to decide between these 2 Ducati products. The billet aluminum cover won me over because of its sturdier build.

2. (Minor reason) as much as I like the carbon fibre, I find the horizontal logo on the cover next to the inclined logo on the fairing a bit awkward looking and incoherent (see photo above). Obviously not an issue on a non-R model.

#2, that is something I noticed as well.

I like the billet one as well, and I think it's a good choice. I have on order the clear cover for mine with the red spring clip, although it doesn't have crash protection, I am looking at the T-Rex, or something similar. But I am looking for get rid of as much of the "gold" as possible.

Good choice.

I have experience with this--lowside with bike sliding down the track some ways on the right side with the original carbon fiber DP cover. It wore completely through and then the cast mag cover itself mostly--but not quite--wore down as well.

So, if you really want serious protection I would go for something much beefier than the stock/DP CF bits. I went with Woodcraft. Not elegant but very, very, very tough--also tested and works as advertised. Even has a replaceable metal slider.

Ok, bike is currently being prepped and the clutch cover is already fitted. Doesn't look too bad me thinks.
I've also opted for the aluminum pads for the front wheel hub. A shame they don't come in black.
