I will be getting a new bike verrrry soon and I am torn between the 2012 S1000RR and the new Panigale. I don't care who is faster, who handles better between the two, who looks better. I just wanted to know for those who has experience with both bikes which one is more comfortable to ride in the street.

I know this is a ducati forum. I am posting this same thread on the s1000 forum.

BMW is more comfortable but I personally don't find the panigale uncomfortable so that wasn't really an issue for me.

Ducati Blood Runs Red

Hey brother. You (Ducati) came to the right place and (Ducati) wont be steered wrong (Ducati) by anyone here regarding (Ducati) your questions. :D

Obviously there will be alot of pro Ducati here but you should do all your homework and select what suits your frame and riding style best. I hate to do this but it is public knowledge so can only help you fill in some gaps of info other than what you were asking.

2012 Superbike Smackdown IX Street - Motorcycle USA

You will surely need to go out and sit on them both extensively. I have never ridden the BMW but am sure you will hear from folks here who have. I used to ride a inline 4 many years ago but once I went to my first Supersport in 1996 I NEVER bought another bike for the street! The 1199 is by far the most comfortable Ducati Superbike I have ever ridden dude! Everything about it screams exotic passion and is way into another league than the rest. ALl the testers in the smackdown agree that Ducati is the hottest looking bike on the planet and personally I dont like the new look of the Beemer, but cannot effectively answer your question on handling-sorry

Good luck (Ducati) in your search of (Ducati) your new bike and (Ducati) we all hope you choose the Ferarri of motorcycles man, DUCATI !!!!

Semper Fi !!

lol

never ridden the bmw but my 08 and 09 cbr were smooth, factory settings on the pani is hard but will play around with the suspensions after the first service is done.

If you are not in a hurry, test ride both and judge for yourself.
The term 'comfortable' on a bike can range from riding a two wheeled couch to a SBK set up to your body metrics.;)

Try a goldwing maby...:D

I had a 1098 at one time and when it became too hard for me to ride, I sold it and got myself a K1300S. btw, I am 55 years young.

Never ridden the BMW but I can tell you the pani is no worse than my '08 1KRR. One thing I run into with the pani that I never had with the blade is the onlookers. People look, and look, and look, then walk over and ask what it is. They're so busy looking at the lines of the bike and the way it all comes together that they don't even see Ducati on the tank.

The BMW S1000 is far more comfortable, quite incredible for a full on sports bike.

If that is your main criteria the BMW Is a far easier road bike.

I might be in the minority here but I think the Panigale is more comfortable.

I was very close to buying a S1000rr (I still might at some point) and test rode one multiple times.

Stock vs Stock the S1000rr has a better seat by far but I did not find the riding position nearly as comfortable as the Panigale.

Ive ridden both back to back and the bmw is slightly more comfortable, not by much though.

seriously, i do not think comfort is just the only you should look out for when deciding which bike you should be getting. comfort is very subjective. everybody has a different height, weight, built, arm length and leg length. best is to test ride on both if you can. because just sitting on the bike (stationary) won't make you feel much about the riding posture. lastly, do consider much more other factors than just how comfortable you feel on the bike.

Cheers

+1 I get a lot of that here, too.

The BMW is more comfortable but after stepping from my 1098s, the Panigale is comfortable ! :D
I was suprised, as the Pani looks tiny and i got enough room to move and sit comfortable on it with my 6'6"

I tried the BMW and never been able to feel comfortable on that thing, always having this feeling I was sitting between the rider seat and the passenger one.
Right after sending the BMW back, I sat on the Panigale and immediately felt at home.
