+1 Auto is Better on those bright sunny days when you entering a tunnel and you hit that blind spot from shadow of tunnel.

I use auto. I find that my GoPro does not pick up the black dash during the day very well.

Had it set to night mode, switched back to auto, I like the change day/ night modes! Besides night mode gets hard to see in the sun!!!
