This thread will try to get to the bottom of why wings on a Ducati, or any bike, are cutting edge brilliant or just d*** ugly. Thoughts?

The ones on the new fireblade are barely noticeable they're so nicely integrated. Looking forward to the 44teeth superbike shootout.

My thoughts are that its a bit of a marketing miss. They could have made them much more integrated with the design, at present they stick out like dogs balls. I know something about foil design and tbh, it's a bit of head scratcher why they went for this complicated route. I know the rules dont allow a lot of freedom but check the simplicity of the Suzuki

Sure higher speeds in motogp but not a lot different where it matters. I think in the end we will accept it and move on but right now its an ugly solution.

For what it's worth, take a moment to read about how the wings help the riding experience - explaining the difference between the new wings on the 2020 Superleggera V4 versus the different wings on the 2020 Panigale V4 and the no wings on the 2019 Panigale V4.

I believe the wings serve a purpose. That said, from a purely aesthetic perspective, I despise the look of these aero wings.

But when I'm riding, I don't care as much because I'm more focused on enjoying the riding experience.
Thanks for posting that link. 50kph corners are well within on-road riding so nice to know they actually do something. I don't mind the standard wings but the Superleggera setup would be OTT for me. And if the biplane wings are even better I wonder why they don't use it in this year's WSBK. When Aruba ran the Anniversario livery the wings were red - thought that looked good.

The superleggera doesn't meet the number of units sold to be homologated into WSBK. And there is also a price cap at 40 or 45k USD

They look good to me in red with a fairing. Black is nice on Streetfighter. However the carbon option at $1400 is not. It's not the price that scares me, but rather the ripping one off while pushing it into garage. Just a thought.

the SL wings were originally on the 2016 MotoGP bike....which were banned by the rules for the following season
