Why do some Panigales gas caps have different hole patterns?

Hello, I have a 2013 Panigale 1199 and I purchased a quick release gas cap. When I got it it had a 5 hole mounting pattern but when I went to go take my cap off I saw that mine has a 4 hole pattern and the holes are much closer to the center opening. So I did a google search and I'm finding pictures of 2013 1199's and some have the 5 hole pattern and some have my 4 hole pattern. What gives? Even searching on here I've seen both hole patterns. Thanks for reading this and any help you can provide!

All the tanks have 4 bolt holes on the tank directly. The aftermarket gas caps have anywhere from 3-5 bolt patterns depending on there mount platform and how they vent.

But the holes don't line up at all, is there some sort of adapter I'm missing? I've attached a picture of both. The holes aren't even close

The aftermarket cap does not directly mount to the fuel tank, but rather to the bottom portion of the OEM assembly.

V4 is the same way. I got a TWM gas cap and couldn't figure it out at first, luckily there was a video on Youtube.

Thanks! I checked out youtube and saw the oem piece you're talking about. Never needed a video to install a gas cap before lol. My other Ducs have been more straight forward.

Yes most the aftermarket caps out there use the OEM plastic piece/green rubber seal. The Lightec gas cap is one of the few that has it's own base that bolts down with same 4 bolt pattern.
