Ducati Omaha website.. they carry OEM stuff... or at least they will get them for you... Why was it a pain in the butt? Im about to replace my windscreen and dont wanna break/lose one of those suckers!

Because it is nearly impossible to replace the windscreen without removing the nose fairing first. I did it without removing the fairing. In the process of doing that, I invented some brand new curse words. Quite a few of them actually.

Very stupid design. Glad that's over with.

Top tip: If you ever have the windscreen off for whatever reason, or are installing a new one, super glue the black deals the screws thread into on the front two holes and that'll help for future removal.

I'm surprised no one has crucified you for this suggestion... But its exactly what I did. :D

I lost one and rather than paying the ridiculous price for an OEM one I searched for alternatives. WASTE OF TIME! Just bite the bullet and pay the ....-in-the-butt price for a new one.

Other option is to buy a windscreen bolt and just glue it onto/into the windscreen. (Silicon glue would work best and could be removed. No more hole + would save you an hour or so of dealing with the disassembly/reassembly.

go to cycle gear buy the set with the grommets 5 bucks or so. done and you will have extra too. change the wind screen bolts. if you have to cut the grommet a little cut it wont do any harm thats what i did with the pro ti bolts. f ducati parts charge you 5 bucks for one grommet and their bolts suck. see them in gold i used the cycle gear grommets worked flawlessly i did have to cut them though.

Does anyone if the 1299 windscreen replacement requires the same arduous process as 1199 (removing front cowl), or is it simpler by just removing the mirrors and pulling out screen?

1299 Windscreen removal & grommets/nuts

Lol...answering my own question for benefit of others who may have this specific question about the 1299.

I've just removed my windscreen and it's the same crappy:mad: set up as with 1199...the grommets/nuts are 'not' attached to the windscreen so will require front fairing removal, unless you're careful not to lose the grommets while removing the windshield. I was lucky and only lost one and fished out the other ones with an o-ring pick that I bought when I went through this stupidity with my 1199R (still ended up removing front fairing that time).

I glued the 4 bottom ones to the windscreen and will have to buy 1 replacement...

I tried gluing, and lost one... So when I replaced mine, I just used a long set of needlenose pliers to hold the rubber, worked fine. Still need to get one of the rubber grommets for the back.
