Wondering if you 1199 guys have had this issue. Having fun today canyon carving and went to shift into 2nd gear and a no go. Tried multiple times and it will not go into any gears except 1st and a very hard neutral. Went home the entire way in 1st.

Got home and messed around a bit and it still won't go into any gear above neutral.

I changed the rearsets a month ago to CNC RACING. Was ok but started having a little trouble going into 3rd but not too bad. I don't know if its the quick shifter, shift linkage, or something else but it seems mechanical as it's a B@*#& to get into neutral from 1st and it does not go higher. Another strange thing is I tried to change it from race mode to sports and it goes back to race mode.

Before going down the parts rabbit hole, has anyone experienced anything like this and what was the issue?

It’s either the bike .. what was it like before you worked on it?

Or it’s something you have done when bolting bits on.. probably incorrectly!

Getting the rearsets fitted correctly in particular angles of the levers position of the quick shifter are so important.

yes the AndyB is correct...i have the same CNC rearsets on mine, and it was a huge pain to get it all dialed in. Once there, you really need to mark all the bolts and lengths so that you can get it exactly the same each time you have to move them for any reason.

Ive not see exactly what your describing. But my money is on all the alignment. I suppose your gear selector could be bent or damaged if you really kicked it hard to get into gear...

your gonna have to pull it all apart, take some pictures, and perhaps we can walk you through it...or you can take to dealership and pay them a butt ton of cash if thats your jam instead..

Thank you for the responses. The bike worked perfectly and I even had some cheap chinese rearsets that worked well. Only replaced them as my boot was getting caught sometimes and I found a really good deal on the CNC set. I had a mechanic install them but have had issues with him before so I am going to a specialist to inspect and fix this issue. Nothing is bent. I hope it's not the shift shaft return spring as that's more of a disassembly.
