Would you use aluminum (CNC 7075) rear axle nuts?

Do NOT use aluminum; it cannot accommodate the torque required.
If you're going to keep the bike, titanium is the way to go. Steel is the most economical, but will show lose its bling with age and use.

I used aluminum for several years with frequent wheel changes for the track, never any issues. I did switch to Ti nuts after I went with a Ti axle.

As long as you are confident you are getting the torque correct every time and not exceeding the nut’s limits... but I do not have the same confidence in aluminum or my consistency.

Your not saving weight worth mentioning over oem, Id be very careful about final drive "mods" after seeing the other thread
Thanks for your thoughts.
It's not actually about weight for me, more about affordable aesthetics-but very clearly not at the expense of any degree of compromise in such a crucial area of the bike.
