Like the title says.. I'm only 5'9 and my comfort seat despite its "comfort" is too high for me. The stock seat height is perfect and for short rides its ok but to really enjoy the bike I need something thats both low AND comfortable.. Whatcha got? I'll be at work until the 13th so i'll update w pics at that point. Thanks.

^ You can peel it off, takes some time to get it cleanly off but it will work.

Have the same problem as you as well. What I did so far was take it to an upholstery shop where they shaved the foam down almost completely (thin layer left) and put the cover back on. it helped a ton in terms of getting me to flat foot/feel better on the bike. took of about ~1 inch i think.

Downside is that its super uncomfortable when I hit a bump in the ground/...... road and hurts my balls. I'm used to it now, but still working on a solution to make it comfortable. (One option I didnt try is to buy a gel seat you can put inside but that will detract from the height loss of removing foam)

I think I need to adjust my suspension to the softest settings (I'm also super light, only ~130 lbs). Not sure how to do that though

good luck man, let me know if you figure out any solutions

I hear ya man! I crunched mu nuts several times already:mad: I thought of a couple options.. One was buying a gel pad and having the seat foam cut down and upholstered w the new pad installed but the local shop quoted too much.. Second option would be to sell my comfort seat outright and buy a Luimoto custom seat and the other is what's goin on here.. Just tryin to see if anyone has somethin they don't like that I would... The 899 seat sounds like the easiest option but it's not an even trade for my comfort seat...

Yeah I'm not even sure how much lower the 899 seat or Luimoto seat really is compared to the 1199 stock one. Haven't seen them but I imagine it wouldn't be nearly as much as the height I got off by shaving the foam down.

I'm thinking once I find someone to help me adjust the suspension settings to softest possible then it will be bearable. Only reason why I didn't put the gel pad was that it would take away from height reduction. We'll see, its still a work in progress but I can deal with the roughness for now.

The 899 seat is maybe half an inch taller than the stock 1199 seat, but the foam is softer than the comfort seat, and the height is very close to stock.

I am not sure, but if you shave some of the foam off the comfort seat, you might end up having an 1199 seat that is just slightly softer and not as comfortable as an 899s.

Understood! Thanks, appreciate the feedback! I wouldnt mess up an otherwise good comfort seat..

I'm as light as you, if not lighter :) Got my rear shock sent to Ducati of Omaha and gonna have 70Nm spring installed with the new shock replacement. That should help a lot. Did you try that? Or do you still have the stock 90Nm spring on it?
I also removed the foam in the seat and it helped. Got used to the hard seat now and it's not so bad. Love the bike so I have to make some scarifications for it ;)

I will trade you my 899 seat for your comfort seat. Let me know if you are good with that.

Please post some photos.

I may end up trading for an 899 seat but I already have an offer on the table, if it falls through I'll let you know. I'd like to have some $$ on top of the deal.. In regards to the pictures;
as you read the OP you noticed I wouldnt be home until the 13th. Yes the seat exists, and yes it's mint... Thanks.
